Springbrook Community Notices

Not keen on social media but want to stay in the loop? Try looking at the My Springbrook webpage. It's a copy of the daily community activities that appear on our Instagram and facebook pages. On Sundays it also has a much more comprehensive list of notices and information as well as the weekly, "This week in Springbrook".

The Mens Shed AGM is on Saturday, November 2nd. All members are requested to attend, vote and help guide the Shed on its journey into 2020. Shed opens at 9am. Meeting starts at 9.30am.

Don't forget... Our Remembrance Day Service will be at 11am on Monday, November 11th at the Cenotaph next to the hall. Please come if you are able.

Are any cafes planning a Melbourne Cup Day at all? Let us know so we can let the community know where they can celebrate Australias unofficial day off work this year!

The Springbrook Local Disaster Management committee has set themselves up a facebook page to supplement the texts that go out during a disaster or crisis. If you do facebook st all check out the page. Springbrook LDMC and follow or like it to stay in the loop.

Got new articles for Springbrook Voices planned? Get your fingers typing, the deadline is November 10th. It's only a fortnight away.

Springbrook State Schools P&C are finishing up their old fashioned bottle drive. If you have been saving containers for their fundraising efforts, pop the containers in a plastic bag, pop them by your letterbox and call or text 0402209916 to arrange a pickup day and time.

The beginnings of a book nook has been donated and is at the book nook in Kurlaboo st waiting for a revamp and a new home. First in best dressed. Come and get it!

Tuck Shop has come to the school this term!  You can order from the Lost Fawn on a Tuesday for Wednesday lunch and from Dancing Waters for a Friday lunch. Contact each cafe for prices and menus.

Roz Bates has an online hoon petition that can be accessed  via her website.
If you want to add your voice to this push to get some funding, get online and sign the petition and let's see if we can get a win for people power.

Storm season is just around the corner  which for us here on Springbrook means cut off roads and lots of power cuts. Now that you've got your fire plan sorted, it's a good time to look at your storm plan. Check you have enough medication, water, food, communications and lighting to get you through a couple of unexpected days with out power. Remember last years 3 day outage after a 30 minute storm just before Christmas?

Dont forget to take the SES tags that the Police put off your letter boxes and rural numbers. Would be very confusing if they had to door to door knock again!

We have been given a spot again on the tour of the Festival of Small Halls. Our date is Saturday December 14th, the day after school breaks up. The SMCA is looking for a local musician or  singer to be the first act of the night. It's a 15 minute slot before the National and International acts play. If you are interested in being the featured artist on the night, please express your interest by emailing the secretary on secretary@smca.org.au

There is a City of Gold Coast Council FREE Family Movie Night in the planning. Date looks like being Saturday November 28th at the Hall. It will be a G rated movie at a time to suit families with young children. Pop the date in your diary and bring your own bean bags!

See you there!
