Saturdays are quite salubrious!

Saturdays are quite salubrious here on our hill top heaven. Beneficial to both our minds and bodies! We drew a blank on water falling from the sky and into our tanks last week and BoM has a week of blue skies and sunshine predicted for the next seven days. Think we will see a few tank filling water trucks heading up the mountain this week as we continue playing water buying roulette.

But its Saturday and we have a number of salubrious things in store for this middle day of the long weekend.

The Mens Shed is open from 9am for all those mountain men to gather and do men things in the company of other men. They've got a pretty cool workshop there. Pop in and check it out if you havent!

Our monthly community cuppa is on at 10.30am today up at The Sitting Room at the Canyon. Buy your self a cuppa and a cake and sit and chat with people you dont get to see often. New residents very welcome. Come and get to know each other face to face this morning!

The Springbrook Tennis club often meets for a hit at the court behind the hall on Saturday mornings. Pop up and have a hit. It's a glorious day for it!

Tomorrow's going to be a busy day. With the Numinbah markets on, all our cafes, shops and farm gates open, Fathers Day and the open mic music session as well as the Catholic Church Service, theres something for everyone on Sunday!

Be salubrious this Saturday. Do things that are good for your mind and body. Admire the wildlife. Listen to the birds. Go for a walk in the bush. Enjoy life!

See you there!

What a festive Friday!

What a festive Friday! And a public holiday to boot! It's the Gold Coast Show Day holiday both for the Gold Coast and for our wee patch of Paradise. Expect extra visitors today up here checking out the wonders of our home. BoMs predictions of rain came to about three fat raindrops this week so we wont bother even checking it today...

No school today! A nice long weekend for everyone starting with the gold Coast Show activities and ending with Fathers Day on Sunday.

AA is on today as usual, 4.30pm at the hall. A growing group that invites anyone who struggles with alcohol related issues to pop in and be part of their support group. Just drop in, they are very welcoming.

Community Cuppa SATURDAY 10.30am at The Sitting Room.

Got your Fathers Day sorted? Looking for a way to celebrate? Try taking Dad to the Numinbah Valley markets for breaky and a stroll. Lunch at a local cafe? Walk through our glorious park?
Got a pressie yet? Check out our two craft shops, the Gem shop or even the two farm stalls, Greenwood Farm and Echo Valley and you'll have something great and local for his big day!

Have a very festive Friday and enjoy the delights and creative people who live in our beautiful wee village.

Breath. Check out the sky. Enjoy the veiw.

See you there!

Thursdays theoretical thunderstorm should arrive today...

Its Thursday and theoretically, our thunderstorm should appear... Its the time of the year where water ordering roulette is played by nearly everyone up here in Springbrook. Looks like we are in for a doozy of a Winters end with Mudge and Nerang getting heavy showers and we are getting nothing... Theoretically, theres 8mls up there in those clouds with our name on it!

Students can relax today, they have a before school yoga session from 8.15am to 8.45am before heading off to Tallebudgerra for the Science day! Have fun. Be inspired!

At 9am we have Yoga with Helen at her studio, 1947 Springbrook Road. Great little classes that move at your pace with plenty of interaction with the instructor. Try it out today.

Our Mens Shed is open today from 9am for all things blokey. It's safe to pop in today as the path from the front to the back has now had all that road base wheelbarrowed in and raked flat. Just need men to come and admire it with a cuppa today!

Perisai Diri Silat is at 6pm at the hall tonight. Running almost continuously for 20 years up here, this class is amoungst the longest running groups on the mountain. Well done Simon!

Dont forget the Community Cuppa is on this SATURDAY 10.30am at the Sitting Room (The old Rosellas) come and join in and see what Mark and Janine have done and catch up with every one again.

Sunday is Fathers Day and a great chance to take Dad out a local cafe to celebrate. If you still need to get him a gift, try the Gem shop or one of our two craft shops or maybe fudge is the perfect gift to share on Fathers day?

This Sunday is also the first Sunday of the month. The Catholic Church service is on at 11am at 653 Pine Creek Road. All are welcome to attend.

Hopefully we will get some rain today. The frogs, birds and other animals need it as much as we do. Theoretically, Thursday is the day for all this rain for us. Spin that wheel Mother Nature, let's see how lucky we are  today!

Have a great Thursday, top up your bird baths, watch the sky and do all those things we know bring rain like wash your car, hang doonas on the line and even water the garden? Nah, maybe just do a rain dance while you get ready for another glorious day in Paradise!

See you there!

Are we in for a wild Wednesday?

Are we in for a wild Wednesday with a thunderstorm this afternoon. BoM thinks so! The cloud cover warms up the nights a little which is a nice reprieve from the Winter chill. Could be a bit of a false Spring though with a bit more chilly weather to go yet. Dont hang up your beanie just yet!

Springbrook School has their Fathers Day stall at the school today. Dont forget to send along $5 so your child can grab a gift for Dad!

It's also School banking today...

The crafty ladies of the Springbrook Craft Group meet 10am at the hall today. Bring your own craft along and a plate of morning tea to share. All crafts are welcome. $3 to cover the cuppa and hall hire. A great chance to craft chat and have a cuppa, especially if it does rain!

The Springbrook Community Library will be open on its Winter schedule, 3pm to 4pm today at the hall. Pop in and check out the eclectic mix of books, games and jigsaw. Theres bound to be something there you'll enjoy!

The next SWAG wildlife talk is on Springbrooks Reptiles! Saturday September 7th at 2pm, at the hall. Come and listen to Steve Wilson talk all things that slither, crawl and slide up here in Springbrook. Always a fantastic afternoon,  always so much to learn about the incredible creatures that call Springbrook home!

Check out the clouds today. All sorts of shapes and colours as Mother Nature decides what sort of rain we will get today. They'll be some great veiws from lookouts as the storm rolls in.

Make sure you've got some fire wood inside and that your pets are prepared for the thunder, just in case!

Enjoy this potentially Wild Wednesday and admire the majesty of a Queensland thunderstorm... if we get it!

See you there!

Expect a change for Tuesday!

Expect a change in the weather for Tuesday! If BoM is right, we can put our water orders on standby for a few more weeks. They are predicting possible storms today and tomorrow. Let's see what Mother Nature decides to do!

Tuesdays bring Yoga with Helen, 9am at her studio 1947 Springbrook Road. Great little classes that are really quite fun. Just turn up.

Our Mens Shed open from 9am on a Tuesday with both the work shops and gardens available for members to use. Morning tea is about 10.30am on the nice big verandah so they can watch the weather over a cuppa!

The Springbrook seed saving network is meeting at 10am at Gina's place to pack more seeds that have arrived. If you have a few hours to volunteer, there maybe a seed or two in it for you. Give Gina a call at Self Help Retreat for more details.

Perisai Diri Silat, an Indonesian martial art is on tonight at the hall, rain or shine! 6pm at the hall. Pop in and chat to Simon if this sounds like something youd like to do.

Fathers day stall at the school tomorrow. Pop your last minute gift donations into the school office during school hours.

Dont forget the Numinbah Markets are on this Sunday. A perfect way to start Fathers day. The new open mic on Sunday afternoon at the Springbrook Cafe and Bar starts this Sunday at 3pm. A great way to end a Fathers Day!

Lots of change in the air today. Watch the creeks and see the effects of the rain if it comes. Remember our roads get very slippery with wet leave when it rains too. Make a change today. A change in routine? A change in attitude? A change from your usual walk?

Remember, a  change is as good as a holiday!

See you there!

A melodious Monday morning!

A melodious Monday morning to wake up to! Whipbirds, kurrawongs, magpies, pigeons and parrots are all in full chorus this morning! According to the forecasters at the Bureau,  we should start getting showers today building to a thunderstorm on Wednesday...

Mondays are School library day. How many great books have you read lately?

There's Playgroup at the school 9.30am to 11am today. All littlies and their careers welcome. A really nice way to start the week by chatting to other parents and engaging with other children.

Yoga is back to normal for another month and is on at the hall tonight at 6pm. Come along and have a decent stretch and relax in one of Helen's classes.

Send photos to council if parking or burnt out and abandoned cars are a problem for you. Have you seen the crashed motorbike on Pine Creek Road? How on earth did that happen. Please, please slow down...

Enjoy our melodious Monday! Listen to the bush chorus, enjoy the laughter of the children and the babble of our streams. Maybe even the sound of rain on a tin roof is to come!

Slow down, listen and smile. It really is a peice of Paradise here on our mountain top!

See you there!

Sunday 25 August 2019

What a satisfactory Sunday!

What a satisfactory Sunday we have here in our Hill Top Heaven this morning! Sunsine and blue skies today at least, but clouds and showers for the rest of the week apparently. Now the big winter water buying dilemma kicks in. Do you buy water now when it's cheap or hope theres enough in the predicted showers to keep you going through to the rainy season? Do you bite the bullet and buy now before the price goes up and the wait times get into desperate lengths or do you belive BoMs predictions...? We do this every end of Winter! Water buying Roulette!

Got the fantastic Sunday Afternoon People meeting this afternoon to have fun and make music. Meeting at different locations, they play old classics and their own original music. Want to join in? Call Cath on 0423414073 and get the details!

Dont forget our friendly coppers are still in town as part of Road Safety Week today. Targeting speed but they bought the RBT with them yesterday. Keep you speed down and you'll be fine!

Great day down at the tree planting yesterday! Nearly 1200 people showed up to plant trees, listen to talks and generally have a good time. Looking forward to next years already!

Be satisfied with this perfect Winter Sunday. Slow down so you dont have to have a chat with one of Queenlands law enforcement officers and enjoy the sunshine before Mother Nature envelops us with clouds next week.

It's really very satisfying to belong to the Springbrook Community!

See you there!

Its Sanguine Saturday!

Its sanguine Saturday! A day filled confidence and optimism! We have another glorious weekend upon us at the moment with the standard winter blue skies and sunshine. BoM says we will have a thunderstorm on Wednedsay at this point, but only predicting a possibility of 10 to 15mls of rain. Good time to investigate buying water. Its definitely water buying season for us here on the hill.

Our Mens Shed is open to members and visitors from 9am this morning for the usual, all things blokey. They have power tools, hand tools and gardening tools to use and to stand around talking about at the shed. To find out which one they are doing today, pop in. Morning tea is at 10.30am!

The Springbrook Tennis Club members often  meet for a casual hit at the courts next to the hall on a Saturday if you're in the mood. Bring the kids and enjoy some family time in our recreational facilities area!

Theres the Gold Coast Biggest Tree Planting day on down in Numinbah today. Just follow the teal and red signs once you're at the bottom of Pine Creek Road.  Talks, demonstrations,  music, food trucks and lots more including tree planting happening there today. 11am to 3pm. Fun for the whole family, right on our door step!

Take it easy on the roads today. Its Road Safety week and we have been formally advised of a greater Police presence on the mountain this weekend. They are targeting speeding in particular, but since we are careful considerate drivers who look out for wildlife, no Springbrookian will get a ticket this weekend. Watch your speed off the hill. So easy to go over 80 on the Nerang-Murwillumbah roads isn't it...

Enjoy this sanguine Saturday and all its optimism and confidence. Try something new. Chat to someone you've never spoken to before. Check out the shed, the tennis or go and plant a tree. Be sanguine today!

See you there!

Thursday is being a bit theatrical...

Thursday is being a bit theatrical don't you think? Not sure if there going to be sunshine, rain, hail or wind today. It's a bit like living in Melbourne!

Wednesdays are for wondering...

Wednesdays are for wondering about the weather, the whimsical and of course, the wonderful place we call home!

School Banking day today! Pop your bank books in your school bag before you head out the door!

The Springbrook Craft Group meets today in our newly solar connected hall. They should be crafting by solar power today (if the sun comes out) and would love to meet new people who love craft, coffee and to chat. Great group. Pop into the hall and say hi some time between 10am and 12 pm today.

We have our SMCA meeting tonight! The second Wednesday of the month is when we meet face to face to share information and here people thoughts and suggestions.

You don't have to be a member to come along and join in but only members can vote.

Take the opportunity to come along to this meeting especially if you havent been before. Angi's baking some biscuits and tea and coffee is always appreciated on these chilly winter nights. Come and check us out. Lots of advantages of belonging to our group. We'd love to see you there!

Mondays can be mirthful!

Mondays can be mirthful! A fun filled day even for those of us who have to go to work today. This looks like the only sunny day this week with various levels of cloud cover and rain predicted by BoM. But predicting weather is hard on Springbrook so we are more weather watchers than forecasters!

School library day today. Pop those books in school bags while you remember!

Our fantastic free Playgroup is on at the school this morning, 9.30am to 11am. All littlies and their careers welcome. Come down and have fun today with other preschoolers!

We have Yoga with Helen, 6pm at the hall tonight. A great class to start the week with. Pop on a jumper, but Helen will have you warmed up in no time!

Our parking issues seem to have been forgotten by those who have the power to change things. Can only see more tourist cars  parking illegally by Christmas. If it's a problem for you, write a quick email to our local counciller Glenn Tozer on division9@ goldcoast.qld gov.au and ask him to do something about it

Watch out for all the branches on the roads today with all the wind we've had. Mother Nature isnt a very tidy pruner...

Slow down, pick up the branches (free kindling!) and spend a moment sitting in the sun today and increase your serotonin levels!

See you there!
