February 3rd *School Gardening Project 8.30am to 8.45am. Students and parents welcome. *PE and Japanese at school today *Springbrook Craft Group meet 10am at the Fudge Shop. Bring your bucket to be weighed and emptied into the schools composting system. *P&C bottle top and to brush Fundraiser and recycling collecting day. Drop to the front gate of them school 8.30am to 9am any Friday. *School Banking and Music today! *Informal group of Mountain Mums meet at the Fudge Shop after school drop off for a play and a chat. *AA meet at the hall 4.30pm. 💜 SATURDAY February 6th *Men's Shed open at 9am *Springbrook Tennis Club often meet for a hit at the courts behind the hall at 8.30am. 🤍 SUNDAY February 7th *Speedtrap Sunday. Don't forget, it's the coppers favorite day to pop up and say gidday! *Order local greens and produce for Monday from Sophie's Stall. *Bread orders to Tree Top Bakery for Wednesday delivery. *Keep an eye out for local artist Damo and drop in for a chat and buy some art work. *Road side stall day including the community seed bank seedlings and the sustainable fashion shop at Sophie's stall. Have a look around to see who's open today. We also have stalls at Echo Valley, the Sanctuary, Sharon's Stall, Velvet Downs, Greenwood Farm, Ee-Jung and plus The Emporium and the two Book Nooks. Springbrook Community Notices *Are those two crashed abandoned cars on Pine Creek road distracting or irritating you? Feel free to let Council know by reporting them as abandoned vehicals through their app or website. You can also email Cr Toser on division9@goldcoast.qld.gov.au. Let's see if we can get them moved! *Found a hurt or injured animal on the road? Call Wildcare on 55272444 and they will get onto a carer on the mountain for you. To report dead wildlife for our statistics, please text 0418454732 with the location/address, day, date and type of animal. Don't forget to check to check the pouch if it's a female marsupial. *Don't forget to make Springbrook Voices your first stop when you need a tradie on the mountain. Theres lots of great people who are very good at what they do, right here on our doorstep. Call the first and shop local when you can! *Theres lots of road side stalls popping up over the place at the moment. A lovely way to spend the weekend mornings is to drive around with some cash visiting the stall to see what local goodies are on offer. From Echo Valley at the beginning of Lyrebird Ridge Road to Greenwood Farm right up at Goomalarah, there is often six other stalls open as well. See if you can find them all and enjoy our local goodies. *Have you seen Cane Toads on the mountain this year??? WaterGum ate selling traps and bait to catch these menaces and both are available from WaterGums offices at Parklands Country Paradise in Nerang. Check their website for lots of information about cane toads and what you can do about them! *Check out the social media accounts for our local business and groups. Theres a great buy, sell and swap one in facebook, great stuff coming from the explorespringbrook instagram account and lots of our cafes and shops operate accounts letting us know what is happening in their world. Are the cars over the edge on Pine Creek Road still bothering you? Feel free to prod council by emailing them on division9@goldcoastqld.gov.au and letting them know, it's time to go! The first Community Cuppa of 2021 is on this Friday, January 29th at Greenwood Farm up at Goomalarah at cs 10.30am. All resident welcome to attend. Lovely way to get to know people and catch up with others. Bring the kids. Enjoy the community! Perisai Diri Silat has their 2021 sign on at the hall, Thursday January 28th at 6pm sharp. If you are interested in this Indonesian Martial Art, come along and chat to Simon and find out all you need to know. Informal first day of school photos outside the school Wednesday Jan 28th at 8.30am for those who want them. Free. Emailed to you. Australia Day letterbox decorating for our public holiday on Tuesday is looking a bit sparse at the moment. Pop out now to fling a few Australian flags, balloons and banners about while you are thinking of it! With only three days of school this week, the Springbrook School P&C has decided to start all their extracurricular activities in February. Looks like yoga, vege gardening, community composting, bottle top collections and the famous school tuck shop lunches will all start in the first week of February. Early bird school tuck shop deal. $30 per child for the whole term! Contact Anastasia or pop into Dancing Waters Cafe to put in your order before Feburary 4th. Springbrook Voices deadline is rapidly approaching! Wedndesday February 10th. Remember this edition isnt able to accept contributions after the deadline as most of the volunteers will be going on holiday so get those fingers to the keyboard and start tapping! First SMCA meeting of the year will Wednesday February 10th, 7.15pm at the hall. All residents welcome. If you are no linger financial (and theres a few of you...) bring your $5 per person and make sure you can vote! New members and guests very welcome. Cuppa and biscuits after the meeting. Get educated on the about to be released Cableway feasibility study by doing a Google search and checking out the various websites on the topic. Lots of environmental websites about Springbrook are out there on the net. If you are into the environment, these websites could be helpful. Many of them have social media pages too. Ladies Lunches are back! First one for 2021 is at the Springbrook Cafe on Forestry Rd, this Friday at 11.30am. Come along and chat with other mountain ladies and enjoy the company. No membership. Just buy your own lunch. All resident ladies welcome! Date claimers. * One day yoga/meditation Retreat at the hall, Sat Jan 23rd. *Perisai Diri Silat has a sign on day, Thursday 28th January 6pm sharp at the hall. *SES start back the first Tuesday in February. *Australia Day holiday, Jan 26th. *School goes back Wednesday 27th 9am! *Springbrook Library open on Jan 27th, 10am to 2pm at the Hall. *Live local music, at the hall Feb 27th The weather looks a little unpredictable over the next week. Make sure you have the numbers for trees on the road and the link to the Mudgeeraba creek heights in your phone.. As we move into the school holidays, the influx of visitors to the mountain all day every day means we need to slow down a bit and keep an eye out for people who dont know our roads as well as we do. They often dont have phone signal and stop in the middle of what looks like a quiet country road to figure out where they are but in reality is our main road...
