We have been given a spot again on the tour of the Festival of Small Halls. Our date is Saturday December 14th, the day after school breaks up. The SMCA is looking for a local musician or  singer to be the first act of the night. It's a 15 minute slot before the National and International acts play. If you are interested in being the featured artist on the night, please express your interest by emailing the secretary on secretary@smca.org.au

For more information about the tour have a look at festivalofsmallhalls.com

If you have seen cane tadpoles in a dam up here on Springbrook, contact Ceris and she will organise Cane Toad traps for you to get rid of them.

More Wild life carers are needed on the mountain. Contact wildcare or one of our local carers to find out what's involved.

If you see anyone taking blue crayfish, tell them it's illegal. Take their number plate and call Dept of Fisheries who can fine them.

November has two AGMs in it. The Springbrook Mens Shed and the SMCA. If you're interested in joining either committee contact the relevant organisation for a nomination form.

Dont forget... Our Remembrance Day Service will be at 11am on Monday, November 11th at the Cenotaph next to the hall. Please come if you are able.

The Springbrook Local Disaster Management committee has set themselves up a facebook page to supplement the texts that go out during a disaster or crisis. If you do facebook st all check out the page. Springbrook LDMC and follow or like it to stay in the loop.

The Springbrook Seed Bank is looking for helpers for their seed packing days. Our seed bank is a dynamic bank with seeds going in and out all the time rather than just being stored. Seeds are being distributed through the packing days and also through the garden club days. To get involved with this important initiative,  contact Dee on dee.kempson@gmail.com and she will fill you in with the rest of the details.

The Springbrook Community Library is inviting residents to create Book Nooks to place on their front fences for the residents of Springbrook to come and browse books at. They can be any shape, size and colour that you desire. They just need to be able to hold books and keep them dry and safe. You can register them as official street libraries if you like.  Lynne is happy to keep an eye on the books and to rotate and tidy up the book nooks each week as part of her community librarian duties. Be part of the Springbrook Book Nook book lovers community and build a book nook. You know they will come!

***The beginnings of a book nook has been donated and is at the book nook in Kurlaboo st waiting for a revamp and a new home.
First in best dressed. Come and get it!

Tuck Shop has come to the school this term!  You can order from the Lost Fawn on a Tuesday for Wednesday lunch and from Dancing Waters for a Friday lunch. Contact each cafe for prices and menus.

Our local Mens Shed exists for the wellbeing of our mountain men. They do many things there but they are not a place to drop off your broken goods for repair. If you know an individual who goes to the shed, he may be able to help you with a project but please do not drop in and bring things that need fixing. It's not what the shed is for. We have lots of local handy men who would be happy to help you with your handy man needs!

Roz Bates has an online hoon petition that can be accessed  via her website.
If you want to add your voice to this push to get some funding, get online and sign the petition and let's see if we can get a win for people power.

Storm season is just around the corner  which for us here on Springbrook means cut off roads and lots of power cuts. Now that you've got your fire plan sorted, it's a good time to look at your storm plan. Check you have enough medication, water, food, communications and lighting to get you through a couple of unexpected days with out power. Remember last years 3 day outage after a 30 minute storm just before Christmas???
