Christina Monneron - Cuban Dancer
Christina Monneron is a former medical scientist who discovered Afro-Cuban dance while living and working in Sweden. She is now a community leader in dance, with 20 years of experience in helping people unlock some of the keys to happiness and enjoyment, in unique and supportive ways, via ‘Music, Movement and Mindset’ programs via her business, RhythMMM. Throughout her programs, Christina creates a super fun and inclusive environment for the young and young at heart, where she encourages body movement with easy to follow steps suited to audience abilities, and to a variety of music from different eras and different cultures. Her main focus is on Cuban rhythms, from the earthy African tribal dances that came to Cuba, the sensuality of the Rumbas through to the elegant dances of the ballrooms of Havana and the ever-popular Salsa. “Embodying rhythm through dance is transformative; it is the key to joyful interactions not only with others, but also with self. Dance nurtures the soul and creates happy healthy communities.” | ||

Just by being aware of how the human body works can bring a healthier, happier and more balanced self. My everyday career was in Executive Assistant roles in the stressful corporate world. As the years went by I realised this wasn’t for me. Dance kept me balanced, and I have been involved with dance for most of my life - learning jazz, modern and classical ballet. I then learnt other styles of dance which lead to teaching. I have been teaching, choreographing and competing in dance for over 50 years of my life. Dance is my passion. Dance improves the mind, gives the heart a wonderful workout, and those endorphins a huge burst. Through this art I learnt a lot about how the body works. This lead me to respect the body I live in. Through dance I started yoga as a means of looking after the body. I have practiced yoga for nearly 20 years. With huge changes that occurred in my personal life yoga played an important part for me. I resonated strongly with what yoga did for me and I became a teacher. I could see what I had to offer - sharing this knowledge. Recently moving to Springbrook brought me to a place where I could truly share my knowledge of how we can improve our health through yoga. Enhancing this further through other mediums - being a vegetarian, looking at natural ways to care for your health, being knowledgeable on how the body works and how to take care of it and much, much more. My journey has become a way of life, and educating others to take this journey is very fulfilling CONTACT DETAILS PHONE NO: 0417079160 Inna Peace Yoga on facebook E-MAIL: helenfs22@yahoo.com.au Samantha Ashley - Bowen Therapist Samantha Ashley is a dedicated professional with a holistic view about health and well being and has been committed to exploring, researching and studying physical health, nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices for over 20 years. This career has been a blessing in so many ways, especially in giving me the opportunity to connect with a diverse range of people, both in hospital and community settings. However, in more recent years, I have become aware that my passion now lies in using the therapy skills and wisdom I have acquired along the way to assist others to be all that they can be in this lifetime. Although I had the “trappings of success” for many years, I knew deep down that I wasn’t happy. I experienced feelings of low self-worth, all manner of fears around security, problems with relationships........and the list goes on! However, I am blessed to be a “seeker of truth” and for many years, embarked on a quest to find my True Self and to live a life of peace and contentment. In 2001, I was guided to The Journey Process, formulated by Brandon Bays. Later, I was drawn to Gestalt Therapy. Both these modalities fast-tracked my own personal growth and healing; So much so that I was inspired to become, firstly, a Journey Practitioner and then a Gestalt Therapist. Both styles of therapy assist people to access the root cause or core of their current life challenges. This often lies in past events and traumas. I use a very gentle and respectful, guided approach to working with clients to assist them to raise awareness of what they do in the here and now that keeps them stuck in old, self-defeating patterns. These patterns often manifest in the physical body. I totally believe that you cannot separate the Mind, Body and Spirit when it comes to healing. “We all make mistakes, have struggles and regret things in our past. But, you are NOT your mistakes; you are NOT your struggles, and you are HERE, NOW, with the power to shape your day and your future.” Book a therapy session with Susie - “Working together, I can assist you to uncover the Wholeness of who you REALLY are". I keep a full herbal tonic dispensary at home and love nothing more than mixing up a concoction to help someone recover from what ails them. I also grow much of my own fruit and vegetables and like to follow nature and eat what is in season, keep fit and get a healthy dose of sunshine. Principles of Naturopathy. 1) First do no harm 2) Use the healing power of nature 3) Identify and treat the causes not just the symptoms 4) Treat the whole person 5) Prevention. BUILDING RESILIENCE
Building resilience is the
ability to overcome, prevent or minimise the effects of adversity.
It has been quite as
stress full summer for most of us, with the constant drought and fear
of fire. Bushfire smoke constantly in the air and Now the new threat
of Corona virus, which not only is a worry as far as the actual
infection but more importantly the mental health issues due to social
isolation.
Going into winter we need
to build ourselves up, decrease our stress and improve our immune
function.
This can be achieved in
various ways and will differ from person to person. Only you will
know what areas of your life need an uplift.
It may be diet, sleep,
exercise, unhealthy habits, stress, building social connections.
When any one of these is
out of balance this impacts on the body’s ability to fight
infection, heal injuries, fend off depression and anxiety.
DIET : choose nourishing
foods high in nutrients like magnesium, B vitamins and omega 3 fatty
acids. ( if you need to know which foods to choose I have a chart)
Avoid processed foods, fatty and fried foods, alcohol and caffeine.
Add anti viral herbs to your cooking. Many common culinary herbs are
antiviral including Oregano, Sage, Rosemary, ginger, garlic, lemon
balm, fennel ,and elderberry.
SLEEP: Turn off devices 2
hours before bed, go to bed at a regular time, keep cool ( ideal temp
for sleeping is 15-18 degrees) avoid stimulants. If these are still
not working you may need to try a good herbal tonic to get you into a
routine. Consult an herbalist to find the best choice of herbs. These
will depend on whether you have trouble falling asleep or with sleep
maintenance.
EXERCISE: there are so
many options for exercise on the mountain there is really no excuse.
Choose from Yoga, tennis, dance, bush walking.
UNHEALTHY HABITS : wean
yourself off alcohol, stimulants, unhealthy food. Keep a diary of how
you feel each day and what you have eaten and drunk. You will be
amazed how quickly you learn what your body does not like.
STRESS: So many things
contribute to stress these days. It is about learning to manage it
using all the above strategies and finding what works for you.
If your body needs more
help then there are some terrific herbs to help get the body back in
balance and adapt to the stress
Chronic stress supresses
the immune system leading to inflammation and constant colds and flu.
There are a long list of herbs to use to help the body adapt to
stress, repair and improve the immune function. The choice depends on
the individual circumstances. So no one size fits all.
An herbalist can make up a
tonic with a combination of herbs to help the body get back into
balance and give you a kick start on your journey to resilience.
Herbs
aside never under estimate a good quality Vitamin C if nothing else.
It has a long list of health benefits including boosting immunity by
helping white cells function better, lowering blood pressure,
lowering uric acid levels, improve iron absorption ,it protects
memory and reduces oxidative stress and inflammation of the brain.
If anyone needs or wants
an herbal tonic I keep a herbal dispensary of high quality herbal
extracts here on the mountain.
These herbs are grown in
their native countries where they grow the best and have the best
active components. They have been tested to be the highest quality
and bought to Australia under refrigeration where they are made into
a 1:2 extract using non GMO ethanol and water. This ensures that all
the active ingredients are extracted from the herb and preserved.
I don’t have a formal
practice these days, however I am available for a quick consultation
.
