Welcome back wanderers, to a welcoming Wednesday!
Welcome back wanderers, to a wonderful Wednesday in Springbrook!
Wednesdays are great for wandering but they are also a good day for being back at home on the hill. Welcome back to the mountain to those who have been away for a little while.
BoM is still telling us cloud but no rain till the weekend and that's starting to look like it might actually happen... get those vege seedlings into the garden today!
Springbrook Craft Group are meeting today at 10am at the Lost Fawn Cafe. All types of crafters and their crafts are welcome. Just turn up and hang out with the crafty ladies! Lots of yummy things on offer at the Lost Fawn for morning tea!
Dont forget it's the Mens Shed AGM this Saturday, so if you're a member, you'll need to pop in for the meeting at 9.30am.
Bioblitz is on in Austinville this weekend for the wildlife lovers out there. Google it and find out more. It's a chance to work with scientists and experts and learn more about the unique wildlife in our area.
Thanks Council for all our flash new street signs! They look very smart.
The school gardening project is looking for bamboo for their cucumbers and hardwood sleepers for their compost heap. If you have any you can donate, call the school on 5548 3333.
Make welcome people in your world today. See how many hugs you can give and receive before the sun sets. We wont need to know about your after dark cuddles though!
Wander. Wonder. Welcome. Its Wednesday and it's a great day for all those things!
See you there!

Tuesdays are great for talking tactics!
Tuesdays are great for talking tactics! Talking about how to fit in everything there is to do on a Tuesday is todays mission. You can talk online, or better yet, in person with a mate, over a coffee!
Doesn't look like rain today. Just cloud building up and its thinking about raining in the weekend... So, tactics... what there to do today and how are you going to fit it all in?
A good start is putting in a School Tuck Shop order to The Lost Fawn today for Wednesday delivery. Great tactic!
Yoga is back on now that Helen is back from her cruise! 9am at her studio, 1947 Springbrook Rd this morning!
The Men's Shed is open from 9am if you're curious about how the new saw is being used in the time machine. Tuesdays, time machines and Tardis building all seem to go together some how!
Simon has his Perisai Diri Silat at 6pm at the Hall tonight if getting fit is on your to do list. Try it out tonight!
Thanks to all the people involved in yesterdays tricky rescue. The walker is now in a Brissy hospital in a stable condition.
Many thanks to the four Irish visitors who found the walker and called 000. Kudos to our local volunteers who were first on the scene and relaying information and administering to the patient. Big shout out to the Paramedics from the Coast including the QUT paramedic student, who all walked in and some of who went swimming during the rescue. Thanks to the Coppers and Rangers backing everyone up with local knowledge and communication equipment.
And to the spectacular team in the chopper...Wow! You guys are GOOD! 🤩🤩🤩
Moral of the story people, stick to the tracks.
Talking tactics is a great idea for today. Have discussions with people about getting ready for Summer Storms, knowing how our emergency services work or even just what times the closest cafe is open for a great coffee!
Tuesday is a great day for talking tactics about things that matter!!
Talk. Be informed. Tactics. Be prepared. It can be challenging living in Paradise some days!
See you there!

Get the maximum out of your Monday!
Get the maximum out of your Monday! Especially if you live on the top part of the mountain and wont have power (and therefore water) for most of today. Get up, do the washing, have a shower, get the dishwasher going before the bewitching hour of 8am! After that, well really, it's a sitting around in a cafe sort of a day then isnt it??
It's going to be a sort of cloudy kind of a day, which will help with the sunglass wearing, headachy Springbrookians still recovering from Saturday night but not so good for those who got up early to get the washing on!!
In case you missed it or have totally forgotten, theres no power at some parts of the top of the mountain as they ate doing maintainace on the power poles today.
But it is School Library Day today. Yay!
Playgroup at the school 9am to 11am. All littilies welcome. Did you see the new time table? Looks like lotsa fun!
Theres Yoga with Janie at the Hall, 6pm tonight. Pop on if you've never tried yoga before and see what the fuss is about!
Seen anything Council needs to fix? Anything that needs repairing? Anything bugging you? Foot paths a problem? Let council know on division9@goldcoast.qld.gov.au
Springbrook Voices deadline is November 10th. Need a new ad? Got an article? Letter to the editor? Get typing! Email your contribution to springbrook.voices@gmail.com it's Pam and Caryls 100th edition together. Its gonna be a bumper issue!
Get the maximum out of your Monday. Be that a washing, showering, floor mopping frenzy before 8am or a sleep in till 4pm since, seriously, what can you do without power at home in Springbrook, unless theres two of you in the bed?
Ditch those hangovers and relish the weekends memories , it's a Monday and we live in Paradise. It doesnt get any better than this!!
See you there!

On Sundays it also has a much more comprehensive list of notices and information as well as the weekly, "This week in Springbrook".
www.lovespringbrook.blogspot.com
The Mens Shed AGM is on Saturday, November 2nd. All members are requested to attend, vote and help guide the Shed on its journey into 2020. Shed opens at 9am. Meeting starts at 9.30am.
Don't forget... Our Remembrance Day Service will be at 11am on Monday, November 11th at the Cenotaph next to the hall. Please come if you are able.
Are any cafes planning a Melbourne Cup Day at all? Let us know so we can let the community know where they can celebrate Australias unofficial day off work this year!
The Springbrook Local Disaster Management committee has set themselves up a facebook page to supplement the texts that go out during a disaster or crisis. If you do facebook st all check out the page. Springbrook LDMC and follow or like it to stay in the loop.
Got new articles for Springbrook Voices planned? Get your fingers typing, the deadline is November 10th. It's only a fortnight away.
Springbrook State Schools P&C are finishing up their old fashioned bottle drive. If you have been saving containers for their fundraising efforts, pop the containers in a plastic bag, pop them by your letterbox and call or text 0402209916 to arrange a pickup day and time.
The beginnings of a book nook has been donated and is at the book nook in Kurlaboo st waiting for a revamp and a new home. First in best dressed. Come and get it!
Tuck Shop has come to the school this term! You can order from the Lost Fawn on a Tuesday for Wednesday lunch and from Dancing Waters for a Friday lunch. Contact each cafe for prices and menus.
Roz Bates has an online hoon petition that can be accessed via her website.
If you want to add your voice to this push to get some funding, get online and sign the petition and let's see if we can get a win for people power.
Storm season is just around the corner which for us here on Springbrook means cut off roads and lots of power cuts. Now that you've got your fire plan sorted, it's a good time to look at your storm plan. Check you have enough medication, water, food, communications and lighting to get you through a couple of unexpected days with out power. Remember last years 3 day outage after a 30 minute storm just before Christmas?
Dont forget to take the SES tags that the Police put off your letter boxes and rural numbers. Would be very confusing if they had to door to door knock again!
We have been given a spot again on the tour of the Festival of Small Halls. Our date is Saturday December 14th, the day after school breaks up. The SMCA is looking for a local musician or singer to be the first act of the night. It's a 15 minute slot before the National and International acts play. If you are interested in being the featured artist on the night, please express your interest by emailing the secretary on secretary@smca.org.au
There is a City of Gold Coast Council FREE Family Movie Night in the planning. Date looks like being Saturday November 28th at the Hall. It will be a G rated movie at a time to suit families with young children. Pop the date in your diary and bring your own bean bags!
See you there!

It's a sore head Sunday!
It's a sore head Sunday here in Paradise this morning for a few of us! But what a night! Worth every second of this mornings fuzzy head, inexplicable ache in the legs, ringing in the ears and the big smile when we think of the Valley Vagrants!
Thank you Mitch, Tony, Troy, Ken, Jason, and Groovy Geoff! You belted out some great classic rock tunes that had Springbrook on the dance floor from the third song until the Grande Finale, complete with stage diving! We love your work. Plans are afoot to steal you from the Valley... But shhhhh, dont tell anyone in Numinbah our nefarious plans!
While you are drinking lots of water and tapping out last nights rock tunes with your toes, theres some more music today to think about if you're able to go another round!
More sedate and celestial music with the Anglican church celebrations down in Mudgeeraba this morning at 11am (instead of Springbrook) to mark their 20 year milestone.
Or Rock inspired Sunday Afternoon People music at 3pm this afternoon. Call Cath for the details! 0423 414 073
In the meantime, if some could turn down the birds and dim the sun a little, there's a few of us needing a bit more sleep time on this sore head Sunday.
See you there!

Such a social Saturday for us here today!
Such a social Saturday for us here today! A community dance is a great way to catch up with everyone and have a bit of fun and that's what's happening tonight!
BoM is saying a glorious day with a chance of a rainless thunderstorm this evening. Bring your umbrella if your heading for the dance tonight!
The Mens Shed open at 9am this morning but it seems like a few of the blokes are off to buy a new saw for the shed this morning. Don't know if you've ever been in that shed but theres definatly saws there already. Turn up anyway, water the garden and socialise with a cuppa and wait and see what the boys come back with.
If you're in the mood for a bit of action this morning, the Springbrook Tennis Club often meet for a hit at the courts behind the hall. Just turn up with your bat and ball and see who else shows up for the challenge!
Rock n Roll Community Dance Night at the Hall tonight. Burgers available from 6pm as the doors open. Valley Vagrants start at 7pm. Bring the family. Tickets $10. Primary school kids free. High school kids $5. Do a deal for a really big family at the door. Greenwood Farm have Burgers starting at $5 for dinner and theres a cash bar with beer, wine, cider and soft drinks inside. Its gonna be a great night!
And if you wake up after the dance in time, tomorrow is the 4th Sunday of the month and theres an Anglican Church service, 10.30am at the Observatory.
Be social today. It's the perfect day for it. You can socialise with a sporting group, a bunch of blokes or the whole darn community today. The chance is there. Take it!
See you there!

Thursdays are Theosophical!
Thursdays are a good day for being Theosophical! Thinking about the design of nature and how the universe works... Actually that's a fairly big ask for a Thursday, maybe let's just stick to enjoy the birds, driving carefully and being nice to each other. That's a much easier philosophy for today! BoM says a glorious sunny day today and so far Mother Nature is agreeing!
So on our Theosophical Thursday what can we do here on Paradise? Glad you asked, theres a fair bit on offer today!
School Tuck Shop orders need to be given to Anastasia today for Friday lunch delivery. $5
Before school yoga is before school Cuban Dance for students at the school this morning. 8.15am to 8.45am dont be late. This will be fun!!
The Mens Shed is off on a field trip of discovery and adventure today. They are off to the Nerang Mens Shed, to either get more Tardis building parts and time travel information or to take part in a Mens Heath and Big Brunch event. One of those things is a ruse to throw the Wives off the scent of the trips real purpose!
No Yoga with Helen till next week, she is still on the cruise!
Perisai Diri Silat is on at 6pm at the Hall tonight for those needing a good workout. Just turn up and Simon will get you started.
Thursdays are a great day for being Theosophical or Philosophical or any thing you can think of ending on 'sophical! Keep it simple. Keep it easy and start this Thursday with the intention of being kind to everyone.
Be kind. Be nice. Be thoughtful.
Be the best Springbrookian you can be!
See you there!

It's a wysiwyg Wednesday!
It's a wysiwyg Wednesday! What you see is what you get! Theres no rain forecast and they reckon we will get 27° today but it's still a bit cloudy this morning. So we will get what we get. And you will see what we get. Wysiwyg!
The Springbrook Craft Group is back in full swing and fired up after spending last week at the craft expo in Brisbane! They meet 10am at the Lost Fawn Cafe if you havent been before. All crafts and their crafts welcome. Just drop in with your craft and say Hi!
If you've been saving bottles for the schools fundraiser, and have some for them to pick up, call the school and give them your address. Pop the bottles out by your letterbox in a bag and someone will drop around and pick them up in the weekend!
Dont forget the community cuppa on Friday at the Fudge shop.
The Much Loved Dogs have come down with the flu and wont be playing on Saturday nights Rock n Roll night. So the Valley Vagrants will be on at 7pm to rock the night away!
Enjoy your Wednesday, whatever it brings. See what you get. See what the day brings. Be open to enjoying the day no matter what happens.
Wednesdays are a great day for living in Paradise as we know. So get on with your day and let's see what happens next. It's all an adventure on a wysiwyg Wednesday!
See you there!

This Tuesday is twinkling!
This Tuesday is twinkling already! The sun is twinkling off the dew on the leaves. The brooks are twinkling in the sunlight and a few Springbrookians, no doubt, have woken with a twinkle in the eye!
The forecast is for a nice day, getting up to 23° or so and gradually rising each day till we hit 30° or so in the weekend! Still some chances of rain but theres always that when you live in a rainforest! (The clue is in the rain part of the word rainforest)
If you're interested in School Tuck Shop orders in term 4, chat to The Lost Fawn today for Wednesday delivery.
Theres NO Yoga this week with Helen, she's off on a cruise!
Thank you to the kindly person who dropped page 196 of the book "Tardis Building for Beginners" to the Mens Shed. The men are now looking for someone who can translate it from what looks like ancient Mesopotamian. They open around 9am and would love to meet any and all translators of ancient languages!
The P&C are holding their meeting today, 3.15pm at the school. Come along if you are interested! All parents very welcome.
Perisai Diri Silat is on at 6pm tonight at the Hall. Theres still room in classes if you are thinking of joining. Just turn up and ask for Simon.
Dont forget to.put the Community Cuppa in the diary for Friday, 10.30am at the Fudge Shop. Always a nice way to spend the morning!
Go forth and twinkle today or at least enjoy the sun twinkling in the sky and on the water on your travels. Pop into a cafe for a cuppa. You may meet someone with a twinkle in the eye there too... Tuesdays are like that here in Paradise!

What a marvelous Monday! Especially if you're a kid, cause theres NO school today! It's a pupil free day.

No Playgroup at the school today but some Mums are meeting at the fudge shop for a cuppa and a play on the grass for morning tea. If you've got the kids at home today, this could be a great way to spend the morning!

Janie is running Yoga at the Hall, 6pm tonight. If you're into yoga, this is the only class this week as Helen is off on a cruise!

It's a marvelous Monday. Weve got our Melbourne on today with the whole four seasons in one day thing happening. But that just keeps us on our toes and increases the chances of seeing a blue crayfish on the tracks!
Great gardening weather to get those seeds from the seed bank in as well as having a cuppa at a cafe with a friend!
Mondays are always marvelous when you wake up and discover you are still living in Paradise!
Have fun today! Have a ball! But as Bart would say, dont have a cow, man!

So far, it's a Sunny Sunday!
So far, it's a sunny Sunday. The type of day, the day was named for! BoM is saying patches of fog in the Hinterland this morning so Canyon could be quite atmospheric first thing today.
Looks like a week of meh weatherwise, may it will rain, maybe there'll be sunshine. Maybe there will be both together? Look out for rainbows!
Today is a great day to chill and enjoy the pleasures that Mother Nature provides. The birds, the trees, the veiws. Make your birdbath the center of todays seated entertainment instead of your phone!
But if you want to get out and make music, inspired by the birds or not, the Sunday Afternoon People meet to make music and have fun on Sunday afternoons! Call Cath on 0423 414 073 and she will give you all the details.
Take time out today to admire and enjoy our natural beauty and wildlife. The snakes seem to be on the move again now that its warmed up and the turkeys seem to be in full mating mode. So much more fun than YouTube!
Take a few stunning pictures of Springbrook and PM them to us and we will use them to illustrate our posts.
Dont forget Monday October 21st is a pupil free day! It's a long weekend for the kids!
Be as Sunny as today is. Be bright. Be smiley. Be glad that we live in Springbrook!
See you there!

What a Splendid Saturday!
What a splendid Saturday the Gods have conspired to give us today. Get off your phone and get outside, it's just perfect out there.
The forecast is for a couple of days of glorious-ness and then maybe a bit of cloud early next week to mix things up a bit.
A special Good Morning to a lovely bloke called Nathan who doesnt do any social media but has his wife read out this post every morning! 👋
We have so many activities to do up here in Paradise that you'll be spoilt for choice in things to do today!
QPWS is doing a bit of tree planting morning starting at 8.30am at the Settlement. They'd love the locals to join in and become part of the team to rehabilitate the stream area there. Just turn up in your tree planting attire!
There's been trouble with the plans bought on ebay for the time machine. Apparently page 196 is missing. If you happen to have a copy of "Tardis Building for Beginners" at home with page 196 in it, please pop onto the Men's Shed at 9am for a cuppa. They'd love to meet you!
The Springbrook Tennis Club often meet for a hit at the courts behind the hall. Pop down today and see who's there!
Springbrook Garden Club have their quarterly meeting today at 2pm at the Mens Shed. Bring a plate, plants, seeds and garden produce to share with other members. Seeds from the seed bank will be available to take home and "have a grow" with.
The Valley Blues Stomp is on at the Numinbah Valley hall all day today. Gates open 11am. $40. See the internet for more detail.
And after all that, we have Christina and her Cuban dance night tonight 6pm at the hall. Bring both of your left feet, the kids and come and shake your booty to some uplifting music. You'll leave with a smile on your face!!
It's a splendid Saturday! A great day to get out there and to have fun. Lots of interesting things to do today with or without the kids!
Be spectacular. Be superb. Be special. It's certainly a splendid Saturday for living in our Hill Top Heaven!
See you there!

A freshly washed Friday!
A freshly washed Friday for us today. What a great storm yesterday! It had it all. Wind, driving rain, rolling thunder, multiple lightning strikes! Only one thing missing from that 20 minute maelstrom last night was a power cut!
How many of you filled the water jugs, reached for a torch and unplugged electrical appliances when that wind started up? Good on you if you did!
Busy busy Friday for us here in our freshly washed peice of Paradise today.
School Gardening Project 8am to 8.45am. Students and parents welcome to come and play in the gardens. Probably wont do any watering today though!
Pop your school Banking in your school bags this morning.
Theres some new Yoga down in the Valley with Danielle at Solitude Retreat, 3376 Nerang-Murwillumbah Rd, Numinbah Valley just past the Parks entrance to Natural Bridge at 9.30am this morning if you feel like a drive!

See you there!

Will Thursday be thwarted from its Thunderstorm?
Will Thursday be thwarted from the thunderstorm this afternoon? A hot day predicted, although it's pretty misty up the top this morning. Yesterday was pretty warm too. Both precursors for a summer storm. But will it come?
BoMs got fantasies of a few sunny days in a row coming up with a qualifier in the small print about small chances of rain. So unpredictable weather in Springbrook it is!!
Busy Thursday today... If you are wanting School Tuck Shop on Friday, today is the day to order from Anastasia at Dancing Waters.$5
Theres before school yoga for students at the school. 8.15am to 8.45am. Dont be late or you will have to watch through the window!
Men's Shed opens at 9am today with a cuppa around the 10.30am mark. Theres talk of a quick trip in the time machine if it's ready. Theres also talk of solving world hunger and brokering world peace. That does make the time travel the most likely option on todays to do list at the shed!
Helen will be holding her Yoga class about 9.15am at her studio, 1947 Springbrook Rd, once she gets back from her school class.
No P&C meeting today due to Parent Teacher interviews. Next Thursday instead.
Perisai Diri Silat is on as usual at 6pm at the Hall tonight, rain, hail or thunderstorm!
If our sources are correct, there is Fire Brigade Training tonight, 7pm in the Fire Shed for our Brigade.
Ladies lunch tomorrow has one more place left. If you're keen call Angi at Greenwood Farm and grab that seat. The Ladies Lunches are always a great day out!
Whew! What a day! Get out there amoungst it. Lots to do on Saturday as well. Tree planting, Cuban Dance, Blues Stomp, Garden Club, Tennis, Men Shed... and so on.
If you have kids, dont forget it a long weekend for them as it's a pupil free day at school on Monday!
What a day! What a week! What a place to live!
See you there!
💚Springbrook
A Wednesday worth waiting for!
A Wednesday worth waiting for! Cool. Comfortable. Calm. Maybe the calm before the storm predicted for tomorrow? Looks like some rain heading our way for Thursday, with or without the thunder, and then a couple of days of sunshine and blue skies again. Worth waiting for!
Theres no formal craft today. The big Craft show is on today at the Brisbane Convention Center. Lots of the crafters are heading up. Contact them quick if you want to go up with them! Otherwise come to the Lost Fawn for a coffee at 10.30am.
Looking for a book to read today? Check out the Book Nook on Kuralboo st and see what treasures you can find.
The Women's Circle will meet at the hall at 7pm tonight for fun, support and friendship. Fun monthly group with local woman.
Reminder for the Ambulance officers that theres training at the Fire Shed tonight!
Lots happening for the rest of the week. Take a sip of that coffee before you continue...
Ladies Lunch at Greenwood Farm on Friday. Need to book for that one. Menu looks delicious!
Saturday has the Tree Planting at the Settlement at 8.30am. The Gardening Group meet at the Mens Shed at 2pm. There's Cuban Dance at the hall at 5.30pm and the Blues Stomp down at Numinbah Hall is on all day Saturday for the music festival people amongst us.
Wednesday is a day of rest by comparison! Our weekend will be worth waiting for!
Enjoy the calm. Enjoy the cool. Be comfortable while you wait for the weekend to arrive!
See you there!

A changeable Tuesday is on the Cards for today!
A changeable Tuesday is on the cards today. BoM says it might rain or it might not. We could have a thunderstorm today or maybe Thursday. Or maybe not. Definatly a day for quick plan changes or even changes of clothes if you get caught in the unpredictable rain! Definitely an umbrella day for all the mountain walkers today!
If it's been put in place, you should be able to order School Tuck Shop from The Lost Fawn today for Wednesday delivery. If you're interested in mid week tuck shop, pop in and chat to them about it.
Theres Yoga with Helen 9am at her studio, 1947 Springbrook Rd this morning if you didnt make it to last nights class at the hall. Always a good thing to do on a day like this!
With the time machine plans under consideration, the Men's Shed is now discussing locations and time zones to visit in it over their morning cuppa. The shed opens at 9am, cuppas about 10.30 if you're keen to add your 2c worth.
Perisai Diri Silat is on at 6pm at the Hall tonight no matter what the weather does. Great all year, all weather, local sport to get involved with!
Have you done any tank tapping lately?
That Springbrook ritual of banging on the sides of the tanks to see how much water is in them? The tapping noise you hear after the rain stops is not water dripping off the trees but Springbrookians checking their water levels!
Great Gardening weather out there at the moment. Dont forget the gardening club is meeting this Satuday at 2pm at the Mens Shed.
Ladies Lunch on Friday. Have you booked? And Cuban Dance on Saturday night. Still lots of fun to be had!
Stay dry. Enjoy the intermittent rain. And may your tank tapping bring a smile to your face today!
See you there!

A Monday for marvelling at!
A Monday for marvelling at! Marveling at the stunning scenario. Marvelling at our community spirit. Marvelling in all that is Springbrook- before we go to work and school today!
Looks like a cloudy week ahead with a few showers here and there to look forward to. So really, anything could happen. How did you go with the rain. Seems Apple Tree copped more rain than Canyon this time which is more unusual. Let's get on with this marvellous Monday!
Dont forget your books. Its School Library Day today.
The Springbrook Cafe and Bar on Forestry road is closed today. Reopens on Tuesday at 9am. Enjoy your break Donna and Brennan.
Yay! Playgroup at the school 9.30am to 11am after such a long time off. All littilies and their carers welcome. A really good morning out.
Janie is back teaching Yoga at the Hall tonight! Welcome back Janie, we hope you are feeling in top form for tonights 6pm class!
Cr Tozer always loves to hear from us up here in Springbrook! If you've seen anything that needs fixing, improving or that council should know about, send off an email to division9@goldcoast.qld.gov.au and he'll get onto it for you!
Enjoy this marvelous Monday. Wet rainforests, babbling brooks and blue skies. Really, it's just like living in Paradise!
Get out and chat to people today. See if you can meet someone on your street today and say hi. It will make this Monday even more marvelous.
Breathe. Relax. Enjoy the birds. Springbrook really is heaven on earth this morning!
See you there!

Could be a bit of a soggy Sunday...
Could be a bit of a soggy Sunday out there peoples! Nice bit o' rain we had yesterday but that looks like it all for the time being. Watch out on the roads today. Things will be a bit slippery and the animals will come to nibble on the nice green grass that springs up after the rain adding another thing to look out for on our narrow windy roads when you're out driving today.
The Sunday Afternoon People will be meeting to make music and have fun this afternoon. If youd like to join in, call Cath on 0423 414 073 and she will give you the location details. They change nearly every week!
Dont forget theres the Springbrook Mens Shed Sausage sizzle at Bunnings Nerang all day today. Come and grab a sausage if you are in the area at all. They'd love to see you and swap you of a couple of dollars for a perfectly cooked sausage and onions on bread!
Get outside and enjoy a bit of puddle jumping and listen to the frogs croaking away in the wet undergrowth. See how many you can identify while you're out and about. Check out the shaded pools in the creeks and see if you can spot the Lammington blue crayfish. It's the perfect weather to see one!
It's a great day to just enjoy living in Springbrook. Next week is a real corker with so many things to do. Check out the This Week in Springbrook post to check out all the great activities on offer in the next seven days. You'll be worn out just reading it all!
Watch a creek babble. See the waterfalls. Look at some dripping leaves and enjoy the results of the recent rains. Thanks Mother Nature, that rain was just perfect!
See you there! 💚Springbrook

Now that you've got your fire plan sorted, it's a good time to look at your storm plan. We are hoping for a Saturated Saturday!
We are hoping for a Saturated Saturday here on the hill today. The BoM predictions have been a bit hit and miss and upside down in the last day or so with Apple Tree Flats getting hail and buckets of rain, Purlingbrook Plateau getting a shower or two and up the top, blue skies and fluffy white clouds?! Our mountain has always had different weathers on different levels on the same day and nothing seems to have changed this weekend!
The Men's Shed will open at 9am this morning with rumored plans to look at plans for a time machine over this mornings cuppa. Keep an eye on the phone box on Forestry Rd. If that goes missing, we'll know what the plans are and where to look for it!
If it's not bucketing down this morning, the Springbrook Tennis Club often meet for a hit at the courts behind the hall on Saturday mornings. Bring a brolly or maybe a snorkle if you're thinking of turning up to play this morning.
It is however, perfect weather for the Blue Crayfish Creatures! The SWAG wildlife talk this afternoon is all about the elusive Lammington Blue Crayfish. Starts at 2pm at the hall and includes coffee n cake afterwards! Always interesting and informative.
There's the Mens Shed Sausage sizzle at Bunnings Nerang tomorrow. There is also still a couple of spots that need filling so if you're able to help out, let someone from the shed know. Remember, fame, glory and a free sausage will be yours!
Here's hoping to fulfill our fire fighters fantasies with tank filling, waterfall recharging rain. In six months time we will be begging for sunshine and respite from the rain but at the moment, if Mother Nature wants to side with the guys from BoM, we'd welcome a bit of the wet stuff!
With a bit of luck we will get our saturated Saturday and get to spend part of the day listening to SWAG talks and the other under a doona with Netflix - both listen to rain drumming on a tin roof.
Have relaxing Saturday. Enjoy stomping in puddles and drive carefully on our roads today. They just got super slippery!
See you there!
💚Springbrook
Never fear, Friday is here!
Never fear, Friday is here! Fridays forecast is a fire fighters fantasy! 90% of 5 to 15mm today and a 95% chance of 10 to 25mm tomorrow! Clear those gutters. Check those inlet sieves. We're gonna get some water in our tanks this weekend. Mother Nature willing of course!
This is great news for the School Gardening Project. Watering will be done automatically this afternoon with a bit of luck. Students and parents are welcome in the school garden 8am to 8.45am to plant and weed and generally have a bit of fun this morning.
Dont forget its School Banking today too.
Theres Yoga with Danielle at Solitude Retreat, 3376 Nerang-Murwillumbah Rd Numinbah Valley just past the Parks entrance to Natural Bridge, 9.30am this morning if you havent made it to a class up here this week...
Our fabulous and apparently good looking AA group meet at the hall 4.30pm this afternoon. If you need support around drinking, pop in and have a no obligation chat today. It's a great group of people to get involved with.
The Strings under a Full Moon concert doors open, 7pm tonight at the hall. NB Venue change because of the predicted rain. Tickets still available as this venue can seat more people. A delightful way to spend a pleasant evening.
The current forecast is a good chance to see how you'll cope when the rains (hopefully) start again for the season. Check your roof is clean or get a first flush diverter installed so you're not drinking too much soot and ash from the fires. Clear out your gutters from all the leaves the dehydrated eucalyptus are throwing down. And check that your inlet sieves arent blocked with fine silt and you don't end up with all that lovely water flowing down the outside of the tank.
Then sit back in the great Australian fashion and listen to the rain falling on your tin roof with a cuppa and some Netflix!
Ahhhhhh... just the way to spend some quality time with the family. A doona, some popcorn and a movie with rain on the roof. Our kind of heaven after the rough start to the fire season!
See you there!

Thoughtful is Thursdays theme!
Thoughtful is Thursdays theme! Let be considerate of other peoples feelings and wellbeing as we go about our day here in Paradise. Not that that is hard for Springbrookians, we do it all the time. In a small community relationships are our biggest asset. One worth nurturing every day!
With the weather looking more and more like rain and the temperature dropping, it's time to think about storms and how you will cope without power and possible road closures... check out the Springbrook Local Disaster Management Committees facebook page (Springbrook LDMC). It's where the official info will come from, along with texts when things go pear shaped.
So while we are waiting for rain in any quantity what is there to do today?? Busy day for parents and caregivers on the hill today!

The Men's Shed opens at 9am today with morning tea around the secret Table of Knowledge. Todays task is to rope in a few members of the community to help out at this weekends Bunnings sausage sizzle. If you have 4 hours this Sunday afternoon to support the mountains men, let one of the members know. Free sausage, fame and glory will be yours!
Yoga with Helen this morning at about, 9.15am at her studio, 1947 Springbrook Rd after shes finished with the kids class. Thursdays class is a bit more energetic as she arrives back pumped!! Now school back, Perisai Diri Silat classes are back in full swing at 6pm at the Hall tonight. Great all weather sport to get involved in!
Thinking of being thoughtful, thoughts of the weekend could include attending a string quartet recital, turning up to a talk on the Lammington Blue Crayfish or buying or cooking a sausage at a Bunnings sausage sizzle on Sunday... Thursdays are great days for thinking. Be thoughtful. Be considerate. Be a good friend & community member
Sparkle today and be the gem that you are!
See you there!

The weather is wavering this Wednesday...
The weather is wavering this Wednesday. We are in that cusp between too hot and shed load of rain! Lots of rain heading our way (according to BoMs current fantasies) closer to the weekend and more of that fog around the Coast tomorrow. At any rate that what BoM sees in their crystal ball today. Mother Natures keeping pretty tight lipped about what will actually happen... The Springbrook Craft Group will meet at 10am at their new location, The Lost Fawn Cafe. All crafters and their crafts are welcome to join in and chat and craft over coffee. No charge, just purchase your own morning tea!
Tonight, the SMCA will have a general meeting, 7.15pm at the hall. Cr Tozer is coming up again so if you have any burning questions about pedestrians, parking or even Cruise Ship Terminals hes your man. Come along and find out what happening on the mountain, how to join groups, and put faces to those facebook names you know. Come along and get involved.
Got some great activities on the mountain this weekend. Theres a string quartet concert presented by the Springbrook Gastronomic and Arts Socirty on Friday night, 7pm at the hall. More info on their facebook page.
SWAG has a really good talk about the incredible Lamminton Blue Crayfish that lives up here. If you're new to the mountain, these talks are fantastic and worth checking out. 2pm Saturday.
If you are heading to Bunnings this weekend, make it Sunday and grab a sausage and a drink from the Springbrook Mens Shed Sausage Sizzle to support their tea and biscuit fund raising activities! Theyll sure appreciate it and it's a chance to chat and meet the men if you havent already.
No need for wavering this Wednesday! Theres lots to do today. You've got a plan. Get out in the garden. Do a bit of Guerilla gardening? Have a cuppa or lunch with a friend. As the ads for a shoe say... Just Do It! No wavering. It Wednesday and it's a great day to get on with it.

Looks like a toasty Tuesday our there!
Its looks like its gonna be a toasty Tuesday out there today! Another scorcher of a day predicted by our mates at BoM, just like yesterday. Make sure you drink lots of water and pop on some sunblock. Summer is here!
Schools back! SLOW DOWN outside the school please! It's the first day of term 4 today! Welcome back from Africa Miss Hoskins! We hope you had an incredible time and have lots to share with us today!
We have Yoga with Helen this morning, 9am at her studio, 1947 Springbrook Road. Come down and relax before the heat hits later in the day.
The Mens Shed opens at 9am this morning. It's going to be quite toasty in that metal shed of theirs this morning. There is, of course, the possibility of them finding some creative way of air conditioning the place. Maybe they'll redirect Purling Brook Creek today to run through the shed as natural evaporative air con. To find out, pop in and see!
Perisai Diri Silat is on at 6pm at the Hall tonight after the day has cooled off a bit. Term 4 registrations open tonight for any new people interested in joining. Just show up!
It's going to be a real burnt toast toasty sort of a day out there today. Stay cool. Drink lots of water. Pop on lots of sun block and keep an eye on each other.
Pop out some water for our wildlife too. They will really appreciate it.
Remember this heat adds to our fire danger so really watch those cigarette butts and remember there is a total fire ban on the mountain.
Keep an eye on your kids and older people in this heat. Look out for your pets and check on your neighbours in this heat today.
Aren't you glad we dont live down the hill where it's really hot!!
See you there!

A Monday fit for a Monarch!
A Monday fit for a Monarch! Glorious blue skies. Tall majestic trees. Stately mountains. A perfect day on a perfect mountain to celebrate the Queen's Birthday! Happy Birthday Mrs Windsor! Thanks for the public holiday, its muchly appreciated!
Today we have exactly one half hour of extra daylight since the equinox, use it wisely. And that whole pesky day light savings thing has started down in Mexico across the border. No big deal here in Paradise except that if your phone picks up a NSW tower, the time on your phone changes, your phone alarms and alerts do funny things and life on the more Southern part of our hill top heaven can get a bit confusing.
Daylight savings Mexican phone tower time is another fun part of living at Goomalarah and on Repeater Station Rd in the Summertime!
Yoga will be at the Hall, 6pm tonight or 5pm for those on Mexican time. At any rate its on, be there!
Seen any parking, pedestrian or other problem on the mountain? Take a few photos and let council know on division9@goldcoast.qld.gov.au
🧐 Check out a new facebook page especially for information during disasters such as cyclones or fires. The Springbrook Local Disaster Management Committee has set a page up to relay important information quickly to the community. Find the page and like or follow it so when the need arises, you are ready and know where to find the info. The SMCA will share all disaster posts from this page to their Instagram and Facebook accounts as well during these times too. Springbrook ldmc - follow them on Facebook.
Have a regal sort of a day. Pop on your tiara and drink tea in the garden this morning. It's the perfect day for it. Check out what's happening up here this week in Paradise and go forth and enjoy the last public holiday before Christmas! You deserve it.
Happy Birthday Liz, from us all here in Springbrook!
See you there!

Springbrook Community Notices!
Dont forget to take the SES tags that the Police put off your letter boxes and rural numbers. Would be very confusing if they had to door knock again!
The total fire ban has been lifted but, we are so dry at the moment that it would take very little to set off a decent fire. Not something that anyone wants. Please be careful when using power tools and lawn mowers just in case a spark sets off a fire in your back yard.
The Craft Group has moved to the Lost Fawn Cafe. 10am start. No charge, just buy your own coffee and something to eat. Bring your crafts and enjoy some crafting time with a group of like minded ladies.
Save your cash for containers bottles. Springbrook State Schools P&C will be doing an old fashioned bottle drive as their October Fundraiser. More details to come, just save the bottles!
"Strings under a Full Moon" tickets are still available online at eventfinder. Check out the Springbrook Gastronomical and Arts Society's latest event on their facebook page for all the details.
The Springbrook Seed Bank is looking for helpers for their seed packing days. Our seed bank is a dynamic bank with seeds going in and out all the time rather than just being stored for the Zombie Apocalypse. Seeds are being distributed through the pacing days and also through the garden club days. To get involved with this important initiative, contact Dee on dee.kempson@gmail.com and she will fill you in with the rest of the details.
The Springbrook Community Library is inviting residents to create Book Nooks to place on their front fences for the residents of Springbrook to come and browse books at. They can be any shape, size and colour that you desire. They just need to be able to hold books and keep them dry and safe. You can register them as official street libraries if you like. Lynne is happy to keep an eye on the books and to rotate and tidy up the book nooks each week as part of her community librarian duties. Be part of the Springbrook book nook book lovers community and build a book nook. You know they will come!
Tuck Shop is coming to the school next term! You can order from the Lost Fawn on a Tuesday for Wednesday lunch and from Dancing Waters for a Friday lunch. Contact each cafe for prices and menus.
Our local Mens Shed exists for the wellbeing of our mountain men. They do many things there but they are not a place to drop off your broken goods for repair. If you know an individual who goes to the shed, he may be able to help you with a project but please do not drop in and bring things that need fixing. It's not what the shed is for. We have lots of local handy men who would be happy to help you with your handy man needs!
If water is a real problem for you on the mountain at the moment, dont forget you can do your washing down at the laundromats in Nerang and Mudgeerabah. If you're looking for water saving measures, check out this website for some good tips.

Remember last years 3 day outage after a 30 minute storm just before Christmas???
The SMCA is holding a Rock n Roll night at the hall on Saturday, October 26th. Valley Vagrants are playing with a local band as a support act; The Much Loved Dogs". Tickets will be $10 with burgers, coke and chips to round out the night. Put this one in your diary now. You dont want to miss it!!
See you there!

A superb Sunday out there today!
A superb Sunday out there today for those of you who have reached for their phones and are yet to open the curtains. Standard Disney movie day here in paradise with the critters crittering and the birds tweeting. Expect locals to burst into song at any moment on such a magical day! BoM has decided on no rain today but is sending it later in the week. Theres no indication about what Mother Nature thinks of this plan at this stage!
Busy day today here in Paradise as it's the first Sunday of the month. There is a Catholic Church Mass at 11am at 653 Pine Creek Rd. Just drop in if you'd like to take part.
The Numinbah Valley Markets are on today too. 8am to 1pm at the Numinbah Hall. Great little markets on our back doorstep. Pop down for a yummy bbq breakfast and a stroll around some great stalls!
Following on from the successful open mic on Father Day, the Sunday Afternoon People will be at the Springbrook Cafe and Bar on Forestry Rd 1pm to 3pm again today for another great session. Call Cath on 0423 414 073 if you'd like to perform!
Also its Grand Final night for some sport or other that's a big deal for some people. There will be pies and sausage rolls and the TV game along with other like minded supporters and a few beers at the Springbrook Cafe and Bar. Kick off at 7pm, open till 10pm. Sounds like fun! Bring the kids!
Have a superb Sunday and take advantage of some of the activities on offer today. Most of them are run by volunteers and need your support to stay viable. So visit the markets, get to mass and enjoy the music this afternoon. You'll have a ball.
Be supportive. Take part. Have fun!
It's such a superb Sunday ou there today!
See you there!

Sardonic is a good way to describe this Saturday!
Sardonic, is a good way to describe this Saturday. For a week BoM has predicting hot temperatures for this long weekend and now its here there is a 20% chance of a thunderstorm in the Hinterland this afternoon and next to zero chance everywhere else. *sigh* Hope no one planned any outdoor parties for this evening... So get out and enjoy this glorious morning, for this evening, its gonna rain!
The Men's Shed will be open at 9am for those that missed the excitement of the rumoured attempt to split the atom with a can opener during week. Apparently the hammer and chisel are the current preferred tools of choice for this task. BYO atom. Hammer and chisel provided! Tea and bikkies at 10.30am to chat about the results.
While the sun is out shining hard this morning, before turning those clouds into a thunderstorm, pop down to the courts behind the hall. The Springbrook Tennis Club often meet there for a hit on Saturday mornings!

Have a great weekend celebrating Liz's birthday, whether the weather be hot, or whether the weather be cold. We'll weather the weather, whatever the weather, whether we like it or not!
Its ironicly humorous that our anticipated long hot weekend now has the only thunderstorm in the district predicted.
You just gotta love the way Springbrooks weather is always contrary to what Bureau's meteorologists think it will be! 💚Springbrook
