Springbrook Community Notices

Looks like most of the mountain will be without power for most of the day on Monday, weather and bureaucrats willing.  Sometimes Energex brings up generators and keeps the businesses running, and sometimes they dont. Pop some water in a jug, power up the phone and relax. Great excuse to read a book!

Springbrook Food Gardeners meet quarterly 2pm to 4pm, this Saturday to discuss gardening, seed saving, permaculture, the weather etc at various members houses. Bring seedlings, cuttings, produce, jams and afternoon tea to share. Call Gina for more detail.

Watch out at the hall this week to see the underground thanks go in for the amenities block. We'll check with Blake, the site foreman and see if we can get a date and time so we can watch!

A one day silent retreat for yoga and meditation is on at the hall, this Saturday, 10am to 3pm. A really lovely opportunity to spend the day disconnected from your phone and reconnecting with yourself. More detail  on www.karaswift.com.au

Its Book Week this week! So that means costumes!! Look out for all manner of dressed up kids going to school on Thursday. It's their costume day and should be lots of fun!

P&C meeting this week. 2.15pm in the music room. Lots to to talk about and organise now that election day BBQs are back on. Love to see you there if you can help!

Community library will be open Wednesday week, October 28th, 10am to 2pm. Natalie is happy to do a story time again. Come along and join in or just come and browse our eclectic selection of books!

Dont forget to decorate your letterbox for some community Halloween fun. It looks like Hazels already got hers sorted. Make sure its Merv friendly and  let us know where they are and we will make sure you all get to see them!

There will be trick or treating in the Purling Brook areas of Forestry and Lloyd's Rds this year. A flyer will come out with the orange streamer to indicate you would welcome a visit from the little horrors! More info closer to the date.

Election Day is Saturday, October 31st where we vote for our State representative.  The school is a polling booth and will be having an election day BBQ. Social distancing will take place. Sanitiser will be available. Bring cash and support the P&Cs first real fundraiser for 2020.

*Theres lots of road side stalls popping up over the place at the moment. A lovely way to spend the weekend mornings is to drive around with some cash visiting the stall to see what local goodies are on offer. From Echo Valley at the beginning of Lyrebird Ridge Road to Greenwood Farm right up at Goomalarah,  there is often six other stalls open as well. See if you can find them all and enjoy our local goodies.

*Have you seen Cane Toads on the mountain this year??? WaterGum ate selling traps and bait to catch these menaces and both are available from WaterGums offices at Parklands Country Paradise in Nerang. Check their website for lots of information about cane toads and what you can do about them!

*Check out the social media accounts for our local business and groups. Theres a great buy, sell and swap one in facebook, great stuff coming from the explorespringbrook instagram account and lots of our cafes and shops operate accounts letting us know what is happening in their world. Stay in the loop and like these accounts and support our local business!

Stay safe. Slow down. Enjoy the day.
