For some, it's a sleepy Sunday...

For some, it's a sleepy Sunday, for others it's a songbird Sunday! Can you hear them all this morning? Isn't it great to hear songbirds rather than sirens?

Smoke haze n sun is on the menu issued by BoM this morning with this reference to a chance of rain if you live on the Coast. If you're heading to the beach today, turn your sandcastle buckets up and bring some of that rain back up here with you, if it comes!

A great movie night last night! Good to see lotsa families taking advantage of Cr Tozer sponsoring a movie for us here in Springbrook. Nick and Caleb did an awesome job of setting up and showing us two movies! Thanks for your skill and professionalism!

The pizza people were happy too! They sold over 60 pizzas and wern't they great pizzas? We will try and organise another movie night for next year! Thanks for coming, Springbrook. It's great when the community comes out in force for things like this!

Thanks to the community who always help put away the tables and chairs after an event and especially to Guy, Graham, John, Kara and Cath for doing the dishes, rubbish and floors. We are lucky to live in such a hands on community.

BTW, Ethan, you left your hat behind. It's in your letterbox! And we didnt find Vaughns drink bottle when we cleaned up... sorry.

For the human songbirds on the mountain, we have the Sunday Afternoon People meeting to make music and have fun today!  Call Cath on 0423 414 073 for location and times. It changes often!

We have December just around the corner. If you have an event planned that you'd like the community to know about, email the secretary@smca.org.au and we will let the people know!

Whether you sing or sleep today, Sundays are superb on Springbrook!
Sleep the day away. Sing the day away. Enjoy the day either way - we live in Paradise!

See you there!

Its Saturday and boy do we have a show for you today!

Its Saturday and boy do we have a show for you here in Paradise today, (now that we've woken up that is! ) BoM is a bit monotonous with predictions of "no rain, sunny with smoke haze" predictions but sooner or later, Mother Nature will give us the flooding rain to go with our drought... (and we'll do lots of posts mentioning the rain instead of the sunshine 😉)

So what's happening on our showtime Saturday? The Men's Shed will be open at 9am. With fire bans and fire precautions in place, theres not much for them to do. All the fun stuff is out of bounds at the moment so its cups of tea, hand sawing, blue tac and duct tape projects are on the menu today.

The Springbrook Tennis Club often meet for a hit at the courts behind the hall on Saturday mornings. Take the kids and see who turns up.

🎬And the hightlight for today is our very own showtime, our FREE MOVIE NIGHT at the Hall!

🍕 Starting at 4pm with fire brigade approved, wood fired, smoking hot pizza for sale.

👣 Smallfoot (G) movie for the kids and the young at heart starts at 5pm.

🍕 Pizza available until just after 7pm. 🧜‍♂️ Aquaman (M15+) starts at 7pm.

🍿🍬🍫🍦 Movie food also available!

Our coffee van couldnt make it but we've got pod coffee which isn't as good but it's much cheaper.

Its gonna be a great community night. Come along, enjoy some pizza and watch a movie without having to leave the mountain or spend a fortune!

Thanks to all the people who enjoy our posts amazing alliteration, our fabulous photos and our mostly accurate information. We're glad you think it's fun and keeps you informed! 😘 Morning Pete n Jen! Welcome to the page!

So get out of bed, get into your glad rags, put a smile on your dial... Its Saturday here in Paradise and that means, SHOWTIME!

See you there!

This Friday is a fastidious one!

This Friday is a fastidious one. Be fastidious about doing the right thing while we still have a fire ban in full force. Be fastidious about slowing down on our roads and be fastidious about supporting our swimmers in the Small schools Swimming Carnival today!

BoM is still predicting no rain but lots of smoke haze (same old, same old) but a 5% chance of 1mm next week? Dont hold your breath nor your water order for that.

So what's on offer this fastidious Friday? The School Gardening Project is happening this morning 8am to 8.45am. Students and parents welcome.

It's also our School Banking day today.

As previously mentioned, its the Schools Swimming carnival today! Go Springbrook!

Theres Yoga with Danielle at Solitude Retreat, 3376 Nerang-Murwillumbah Rd Numinbah Valley just past the Parks entrance to Natural Bridge, 9.30am. Worth the drive. We've been told it was great!

Our incredible AA group meet at the hall 4.30pm on Fridays. If you need support around any kind of alcohol issues, just turn up. Lots of Gold Coasters turn up to this meeting!

Dont forget, its pizza in the park and FREE movies in the hall tomorrow night! 4pm Pizza sales start. 5pm Smallfoot. 7pm Aquaman. Come and support this great night out right here on the hill!

It's a fastidious Friday and that's why we dont take any fire risks today. We make sure that cigarette butts are out and in the bin. We put off the welding project. We have a bucket of water handy if we are mowing and we have a fire extinguisher in the car.

We are fastidious about things than can cause a fire in Springbrook and that's what keeps us ALL safe...

See you there!

It's the beginning of a thirst quenching Thursday!

It's the beginnings of a thirst quenching Thursday! Granted, its a trace of rain that created rainshadows and not much else, but we can be hopeful cant we??

BoM is predicting Buckleys again but there is still cloud, not smoke, in the sky so maybe our thirst quenching rain is just up there.  Mens Shed, are you working on a rain gun at all?

Quench your thirst for tomorrow with a School Tuck Shop order to Anastasia today.  Friday lunch delivery. Add a refreshing drink!

The very popular Before school yoga for students at the school, 8.15am to 8.45am is on today. Dont be late or you cant join in.

It's the last school swimming lesson for this year!

Our Men's Shed opens at 9am to work on the rain gun, we've heard. Great project to be working on, especially with actual cloud hanging around!!

Yoga with Helen, 9.15am at her studio, 1947 Springbrook Rd this morning. No dun salutations today please!

Perisai Diri Silat is on at 6pm at the Hall tonight creating a thirst for those that participate in this work out!

Fire Brigade Training tonight, 7pm in the Fire Shed? Make sure you go. We want you all super trained, just in case!

FRIDAY November 22nd is the Small Schools Swimming carnival! Go Springbrook State School!

SATURDAY November 23rd is our
Free Movie Night at the Hall! Come and support both the movie and the PIZZA!

With a bit of luck, a lot of rain dancing a shot of whatever the Mens Shed are tinkering with, we will get a bit more rain so our Rural fire fighters can go back to their secret identities with boring jobs and uneventful lives. We love the super hero work you've been doing, but it would be great if Mother Nature would send some thirst quenching rain to put you all out of super hero work for the season!

Quench your thirst for family, friends and fun today but dont do anything to add to the load of our super hero fire fighter!

Love your work guys n gals!

See you there!
💚Springbrook

Wait! Is it Wednesday already?

Wait! Is it Wednesday already? That means in five Wednesdays time it will be Christmas day! How did that happen?? Is it the lack of rain that speeds up time? Or the extra sunshine we've had. It's a question for the Mens Shed and their time machine really!

Dont wait, jump right in and get to Craft today. The Springbrook Craft Group meet 10am at The Lost Fawn cafe. All crafts welcome. Lots of yummy Regan baking to be had!

The School are off down the hill for swimming lessons this arvo!

The Springbrook Community Library will be open 3pm to 4pm today. Lynne needs to sort out the books and shelve the donations so if you need a book or two, this afternoon is the best time to grab some. No membership. No late fees. Just books and more books!

There is no Women's Circle tonight. Tracey is away and then has a new home to go to down the hill. The space and time is available for anyone who want to take on our small group of women who meet monthly for fun and friendship.  Contact the hall Manager if you'd like to take on this group or create something new in 2020.

There should be Ambulance training at the Fire Shed  tonight.

Austinville hall is hosting their Small Halls Concert tonight. Tickets available at the door. Always a folksy fun music night. Check it out if you havent been before. Some Springbrook locals will be there.

Dont wait for Wednesdays or Christmas to creep up on you! Be proactive and take a few steps towards making Wednesdays worth the wait! Christmas preparations can start too. Get a head start on your shopping and support our local business too. Many will do vouchers for locals. Maybe a voucher for a stay at some local accommodation or lunch at a cafe? Maybe a hamper of local foods? We have lots of out of the box Christmas ideas up here!

Don't wait. Don't hesitate. Don't dilly dally. Jump right in and enjoy a wonderful Wednesday right here in Paradise. It's been worth the surprise of waking up to!

See you there!

Darn, another toast Tuesday...

Darn, another toasty Tuesday. Did you see the BoM prediction for today? Mostly sunny with smoke haze around the Hinterland. That's rapidly becoming the new normal isnt it? Another day of non sparking activities, not mowing lawns, not chainsawing and not welding. Seriously, what is Mark doing with himself these days?

With only 4 more weeks at school to order school tuck shop, get your order to The Lost Fawn today for Wednesday delivery.

Relax at Yoga with Helen, 9am today  at her studio, 1947 Springbrook Rd.

The Men's Shed is open from 9am to, once again, gaze upon the tools and equipment that cant be used on a toasty Tuesday. Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits however to mop up your dismay with!

Our longest running mountain sport, Perisai Diri Silat,  is on at 6pm at the Hall tonight. Check it out.

Great day for drying fruit out in the toasty sun today. Maybe a day for working up a sweat, after all you'll only have to go as far as the letterbox to do it. Sunflowers are definitely the flower of choice to be growing in this sunny smokey weather! Toasty Tuesdays have some good things going for them!

Keep an eye on the official sites and go spark free about your day. Splash a little water around (for those who got some yesterday) but carefully. Those Summer rains that have usually started by now seem to be hibernating for an extra long Winter this year.

Have conversations that spark! Enjoy lightning quick conversations! Hang out with people who have fire in their bellies today!

Call 000 if you see smoke!

See you there!

Did it rain? Is this a moist Monday?

Did it rain? Are we having a moist Monday? Was that actual rain falling from the sky in the night? 1.5mm in the gauge this morning so that was a lovely find!

Moist or not underfoot this morning, we still have our fire ban and we still have potential for awful things to happen if people arent careful. If you're a smoker, please be extra careful. Dont let that slight bit of rain let you toss a smoking butt anywhere, thinking it's ok.

It's the School Library Day today. Dont forget to take your books back!

Our playgroup has almost as many attendees as the school classes these days! Playgroup starts at the school at 9am and goes to 11.30am. All littilies and their carers are welcome. No fees, the school and the P&C pay for everything!!

Theres Yoga at the Hall, 6pm tonight. Get your self ready for the Christmas stress by getting into yoga and having some peaceful downtime this evening. Yoga for all levels. Just turn up.

Seen anything Council needs to fix, repair or know about?  Let council know on division9@goldcoast.qld.gov.au the women at this office are very efficient and will get it sorted for you asap!

Good to see a bit of moisture in the air and slightly cooler temperatures overnight. Gardens, trees and waterways got a small amount of respite from the relentless heat. The rain wasnt exactly a firemans fantasy, but it was better than another long hot night here in the Queens own state.

Nice to get a drop of water into the tanks wasnt it! Use it wisely though. There may not be much more for a while. The long term weather predictions seem to be saying our summer rains wont start till after the New Year...

Enjoy the slightly moist Monday and get into rain dancing peoples.

See you there!

Arent Sundays sublime on Springbrook?

Are Sundays sublime? Especially Sundays on Springbrook! It's a little overcast this morning. Those are clouds not smoke you can see in the sky today. Ok theres smoke too, but there are clouds there as well! Clouds are full of rain and BoM is saying we have a chance of next to nothing or even Bucklys chance of rain today. But let's enjoy just seeing clouds in the sky for a change.

It's the perfect day for the Sunday Afternoon People to meet to make music and have fun, Call Cath on 0423 414 073 for location details. These guys will be performing at the Combinedm Community Christmas Carol's and Celebration on Dec 11th at the hall. More details closer to the time.

As sublime as this day is, with its clouds in the sky, we still have the whole fire potential thing hanging around. Have you got a fire extinguisher in the car? That could be a super handy thing in these tinder dry times.

A few bowls of water in the backyard, up for the birds, on the ground for the lizards and Pades, would probably be appreciated by our wild life. Its gonna rain Buckleys before it rains water at this rate.

Have a sublime Sunday. Visit a cafe and have a cuppa with a friend. Do a bit of early Christmas Shopping at the Craft, Gem or Fudge shops. Check out our farm stalls. Sundays on the mountain are pretty darn good really!

See you there!

A sensational Saturday here in Springbrook!

A sensational Saturday here in Springbrook! Sunshine, Birds and a Total Fire Ban! We've got it all! Another hot day with fire potential but we're all up to date with what's happening and we've all checked out the local disaster management facebook pages videos on getting ready for a bush fires, so we are set and we are sensational!

Saturdays can't be sensational without a few community events to add to our to do list!

The Men's Shed open at 9am to gather around the table of knowledge with a cuppa and lament the inability to chainsaw, mow and weld at the moment. Come and gaze at the new saw whatsit and commiserate with other blokes unable to mow their lawns today!

The Springbrook Tennis Club often meet for a hit at the courts behind the hall. Pop down and see whose there!

Voices committee meeting, 11am at Dancing Waters.

The  monthly Ladies Lunch is on today at 11.30am at the Springbrook cafe and Bar on Forestry Road. Just turn up, order what you like and chat with other ladies over lunch. Kids welcome.

It's the last Cuban Dance night of 2019, 5.30pm at the hall tonight. Pop on your dancing shoes and get your groove on!

Numinbah Valley have a farewell on at their hall from 5pm this evening. Live music, bar and a food truck as well. Great night out, just down the hill.

Saturdays are extra sensational when you join in in local activities. Get out today and get involved. Theres lots of people to meet and lots of things to try out. Make your Saturday extra sensational, just because you can!

Sensational environment.  Sensational wildlife. Sensational community. Seriously, we have it all!

See you there!

Fridays are not for the fainthearted!

Fridays in Springbrook are not for the fainthearted! Fortunately,  not many Springbrookians are so we are all good. No point in visiting the weather forecast, it's either hot with no rain or its incredibly hot with no rain. Just flip a coin and you'll be right.

The School Gardening Project is growing and blooming these days! It's on today from 8am to 8.45am. They've just had their first lunch out of the garden and got funding for a composting system! Students and parents welcome!

School Banking today!

Theres Yoga with Danielle at Solitude Retreat, 3376 Nerang-Murwillumbah Rd Numinbah Valley just past the Parks entrance to Natural Bridge, 9.30am

Our not fainthearted AA meet at the hall 4.30pm each Friday afternoon to support each other around alcohol and its issues. They use the big book and welcome visitors from the mountain and the Coast.

Fridays are not for the fainthearted.  Springbrook isn't either! We are not the most convenient suburb on the Gold Coast to live in but that why we like it! We have a great team of volunteers ready at the drop of a dinner fork to attend accidents, emergencies and escaped chickens. Definitely not  fainthearted people. Finding black chickens on a dark night before you discover the snake in the pen could understandably,  give the heart beat a skip!

It's not the easiest place to live and even less so with the fires around us at the moment. But as mentioned previously,  we ain't fainthearted and we love living in our hill top heaven!

And we love our wild life... even if some of them make our heart slightly faint at time!

See you there!

The temperature has been thermonuclear this Thursday!

The temperature has been a bit thermonuclear lately aiding and abetting fires not just at the base of our hill top heavan but in the greater lands we call home. Not much we can do to bring Mother Nature to heel but we can cool ourselves down and also keep our cool as the temperature hits those thermonuclear heights today.

Obviously, with most of the State being under a state of fire emergency, we are not mowing lawns (if you still have one) nor chainsawing nor welding or other possible spark producing activities so that we can all stay safe. (Mark's not going to have much to do today then is he??)

Non spark producing activities include putting in your School Tuck Shop orders to Anastasia today for Friday lunch delivery. $5

Yoga is a non thermonuclear activity to bring the kids temperature down before school for students this morning. 8.15am to 8.45am. Dont be late!!

Activities at the Men's Shed today will be the relaxing cuppa around the table of knowledge while gazing at all those spark producing tools that will lie idle for a little while longer. They open at 9am for those men who need to be surrounded by equiptment while drinking tea this morning!

Helen will be holding her yoga class at 9am at her studio, 1947 Springbrook Rd this morning. Very relaxing. Not a spark to be seen.

The spirited but not sparky P&C are holding a quick lighten fast no mucking around meeting this afternoon at 3.15pm at the school. Lots to discuss. Stay and be part of one of the slickest meetings on the mountain!

Perisai Diri Silat is on at 6pm at the Hall tonight. Lightning fast moves. Thunderous footsteps on the wooden floors but the only fire is in their bellies. Come and be part of this great indoor sport here in Springbrook!

Rumour has it that the Blue Nurse, the Banker and Bella have sold up and are moving. Farewell at the Tick and Leech at 5.30pm Friday night. If you know them, you'll know what that means!

Stay cool as we head into a Thermonuclear Thursday. No sparking, emotionally or physically.  Spark in the metaphaphyiscal plane if you can and see if we can get some rain!

Stay cool. Stay calm. Stay collected.  It's just another Thursday!

💚Springbrook!

Wow! Its Wednesday!

Wow! Its Wednesday already! The fires around us seem to be behaving themselves and staying within their containment lines, our Firefighters, while not relaxed, are calmly alert having breakfast this morning and the smoke is still hanging around making sure we ate aware that where there is smoke, there is fire.

It Wednesday and we live in Paradise which is Wow! The forecast is for more hot weather and the fire rating is be super careful and really, do you need to BBQ or mow today? I'm sure QFES will give you a note to get you out of mowing or chainsawing if you need one. 😉

On Wednesdays, our craft group will Wow you with what they do, at 10am down at the Lost Fawn Cafe! All craft types welcome. Come down if you're new up here and meet some of the crafty mountain people and have a cuppa. It's a lovely morning out!

The SMCA AGM and general meeting is on tonight 7.15pm at the hall. Roz Bates will be there to give us an update and Numinbah and the Springbrook Fire Brigades will be there to tell us what's happening. Nominations are closed and theres only one nomination  for each committee position so you dont have to be afraid you'll be pressured into anything tonight.
**Spoiler Alert: Theres no changes from the amazing committee from last year!

Make this Wednesday one to say Wow on. Wow, what a great Fire Brigade! Wow what a great Disaster Management Committee! Wow, what a vigilant and supportive community we live in!

Lots of new people on the mountain these days. Say Hi and welcome them into the ways of the mountain. Mention our communication channels, our ways of passing on unneeded goods and how we drive slow in high paddymelon population areas!

Wow! What a wonderful community we are!

See you there!

What a tip top Tuesday!

What a tip top Tuesday we have today! The sun is shining, the birds are shining and our fire fighters are having breakfast and reading the paper - just how we like it here!

Still a few scorcher days heading our way. Since you're on your device, check out the Springbrook lmdc facebook page and get into their page. All our local emergency information is going to come from that very spot so you might as well get it fresh of the press rather than waiting for the repost here.

Theres Yoga with Helen 9am at her studio, 1947 Springbrook Rd. Just drop in if you havent been before and try a class!

The Men's Shed is open from 10am for men needing a cuppa, some company and to gaze longingly at the new bench saw thingo that they've been setting up all week. It's an impressive bit of gear and definitely needs looking at!

It's a tip top Tuesday out there today. The smoke is still hanging around making for spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Let's not add to that smoke in any way today. A military themed Monday, if you like.

November 11 is Rememberance Day, a military themed Monday if you like. A day to remember sacrifices and those who died in the call of duty. Also a good day to think of our emergency personnel out there right now battling for us all against a different kind of threat.

Our Rememberance Day service will be at 11am at the Centotaph, Springbrook Centuary Park, Carricks Rd, next to the hall. We would love all residents who are able, to attend this short, but important service.

Dont forget its School Library Day today!

Playgroup at the school 9am to 11.30am. All littilies and parent welcome, especially residents new to the mountain. Theres been a few enquiries about our great playgroup so there should be a few new people there this morning. Keep an eye out for them and make them welcome!

Theres Yoga at the Hall, 6pm tonight if you need to relax and spend some time contemplating life from a different perspective today!

Mondays are a great day to contact council about anything you've seen that the council needs to fix or repair. Let them know on division9@goldcoast.qld.gov.au

Still lots of smoke around this morning. A very atmospheric sunrise. Beautiful and quite chilling at the same time. Let's all be safe and sensible and let the smoke remind us that things are not so perfect in the world today.

We are a tough and resilient little community that looks after it's own. Welcome to all the new arrivals. We hope to meet you at playgroup, Remembrance Day service, an SMCA meeting or even a Ladies Lunch!

See you there!

We are hoping for safe Sunday today.

We're hoping for a safe Sunday today. A day where not only Springbrookians are safe but our neighbours over at Beechmont and beyond are safe too. It's been a horrible start to the fire season this year, and every night the message to be careful and to be prepared, is rammed home with those horrific images on the TV. Our thoughts are with those who have lost so much in the recent fires.

The weather isnt going to play ball in the next week. No rain is predicted at all so maybe it's time to put our rain dancing shoes on and start those rain inducing rituals again...

It is Sunday and this afternoon, the Sunday Afternoon People will meet to make music and sing songs about wet weather and of course to have fun, Call Cath on 0423 414 073 and she will give you all the details. Musicians, singers and audiance members very welcome!

Tomorrow is Rememberance Day. Our service will be held at the Cenotaph at 1100 hours sharp. All residents are welcome. We would love to see you there at our picturesque Cenotaph in the rainforest if you can make it.

Stay safe everyone. Stay sensible. Stay sane. These are scary times and bush fires are terrifying.

Know what you will do if we have to leave the mountain. Know what you will take, which pets go in which cage and know where all your important papers are.

Stay up to date and get all your fire related information from official channels.

It's a safe Sunday today. We will all look out for each other and stay safe, physically and emotionally today. We are a tough little community and we always stick together and support each other in situations like this.

See you there!

Another Smokey Saturday here on the hill

Another smokey Saturday here on the hill! The smoke is from fires at Beechmont and NSW combined with that weather inversion thing that traps smoke in the cool air in the mornings. As long as you are hooked into the Local Disaster Manegment Committes facebook page and text messaging system, you'll be in the loop if anything happens up here.

There are some road closures in the Beechmont area, so check before you head off in that direction.

Otherwise, be prepared, know what your fire plan is and get on with your Saturday, smokey or not!

Our Men's Shed open at 9am this morning. If you're a new bloke on the mountain, drop in and say Hi. They speak fluent bloke at the shed and theres not a wife there to be seen. Great spot to meet people and talk man things.

If you're feeling a bit sporty this morning, the Springbrook Tennis Club often meet for a hit at the courts behind the hall from 8.30am. Bring your bat and ball and see who turns up!

If you enjoy making music and having fun, you're in luck! The Sunday Afternoon People meet to make music and have fun on Sunday Afternoons!  Call Cath on 0423 414 073 to get the location details.

We've got our Rememberance Day Service at the Centotaph on Monday, 11am. If youd like to lay a wreath or pay your respects, we'd love to see you there.

We know you havent forgotten the total fire ban and that you all know that there are to be no flames in the great outdoors at this time, cause we know you follow the rural fire brigade pages which are all over it. The main one is great, but check out Numinbah, Beechmont and Mudgeeraba RFB as well. Local info to set your mind at ease and keep you in the loop in real time.

You know the drill. No fires. Know what you'll do if there is one. Know where to get your official info from.

Thinking of you all over in Beechmont at the moment. Let us know if we can help in anyway.

See you there!

Let's make today a Fire-less Friday.

Let's make today a Fire-less Friday! With the thermometer skyrocketing today to over 30 degrees on the coast, let's do our best to keep the mountain fire free! With the hot sun drying everything out and the winds ready to encourage embers, please be aware of where you put out your cigarettes today. Its  total fire ban. No naked flames outside.

Pop some water out for passing wildlife and top up your bird baths as the day gets hotter.

The School Gardening Project for students and parents is on at 8am to 8.45am this morning. Anyone got some bamboo for the cucumber trellis or hard wood sleepers for the compost? This is a good day to call the school and let them know you've got a donation for the school garden!

School Banking today!

Yoga with Danielle at Solitude Retreat, 3376 Nerang-Murwillumbah Rd Numinbah Valley just past the Parks entrance to Natural Bridge, 9.30am

Our fantastic AA meet at the hall at 4.30pm this afternoon. A growing group with lots of success at helping each other with support around alcohol issues. If you need support, pop in and say hi. It's a very welcoming group and you dont need to talk if you dont want to.

A reminder for our local Fire Bridage that there is a meeting tonight, 7pm at the Fire Shed.

Our mountain Rememberance Day service will be on Monday at the Cenotaph starting on the dot of 1100 hours. It would be great if residents could attend.

Remember, although we all have a streak of fire in us, it's a fire-less Friday so let's keep our flames, both physical and emotional inside, just for today!

Fire-less Fridays are great days for looking for smoke, sniffing for smoke and checking out any smoke you see. We cant be too vigilant on a such a scorcher of a day. Report anything you're not sure about by calling 000 and let's keep our mountain fire free this Friday!

See you there!

The Men's Shed opens at 9am today and there's rumours of a BIRTHDAY. There will be cake but the fire regulations wont allow that many candles on it so you'll just have to guess how recently he was born!

Yoga with Helen, 9.15am at her studio, 1947 Springbrook Rd today for those who want to practice mindfulness and thankfulness at the same time today!

Dont forget to mark November 23rd in the diary for Movies under the Stars! 5pm, SmallFoot. 7pm Aquaman. Pizza and coffee for sale 4pm to 7pm.

The small ginger cat and her owners have been reunited thanks to a sensor light and the caring nature of our Springbrook residents. The cat owners are thankful for your alerting text, Miss L. 🐈 You are legend!

Thursdays not only rhyme with thankful but are a great "almost end" to the week. Theres still time to do the things you want to do before the weekend but the weekend is almost here. You've made it the rest of the way through this week, so theres a high chance you'll make the next two days!

Sit and take some time today to be thankful. Thankful for living in Springbrook. Thankful for being part of a great community of caring people. Thankful for all the specialness we have up here.

Thankful Thursday. What a day!

See you there!

Is it a winning Wednesday for you? Did you make a few dollars on the cup yesterday or did you have a peaceful afternoon? Win win either way really!

Looks like a bright and sunny day with a couple of scorchers on Thursday and Friday before cooling a few degrees for the weekend and thats bad fire weather. Dont forget we have a total fire ban in effect at the moment. Please report any fire or smoke you see. We are the eyes and noses of the fire brgade community!

Win or win yesterday, the Springbrook Craft Group meets today at 10am at the Lost Fawn Cafe. All crafters and their crafts are very welcome. No charge and theres lots of super yummy baked goods and award winning hot chocolates there for purchase!

The deadline for Sprongbrook Voices articles, ads and contributions has been extended to November 17th. So if you were thinking of getting something in, now is the moment to put fingers to the keyboard.

Its Pollinators week from November 10th to the 17th. Have a look on line for cool ways to get involved with our many insect pollinators.  Afterall, they are responsible for the mornings, tea, coffee and hot chocolate!

Make it a winning Wednesday for yourself today! Do things you enjoy. Do things that make you happy. Do things that make you feel good.

Wednesdays are a great day for having a win!

Celebrating a chancy Tuesday!

Celebrating a chancy Tuesday here on the mountain today. With the Melbourne Cup at 2pm today, will you take a chance or will you take a rain check? Horse racing isnt for everyone but a Tuesday up here in Paradise, well the chance is a fine thing!

BoM is predicting every kind of weather. A bit of wind. A chance of rain. A few clouds. A bit of sunshine. So take your chance with the weather on your walk today! Sunshine for the rest of the week is their current prediction!

If youd like School Tuck Shop tomorrow, pop your orders to The Lost Fawn any time today for Wednesday delivery.

Theres Yoga with Helen 9am at her studio, 1947 Springbrook Rd this morning for those who take no chances with how they start their day!

The Men's Shed is open from 9am today. Not sure if they will watch the race with a cuppa in a XXXX can today or not, but if you want to find out, pop in and ask! They are down the driveway to the right of Sophies stall opposite Carricks Rd .

The Springbrook Cafe and Bar on Forestry Road is open for lunch today for Cup celebrations. Call and book a table. Wear a hat and watch the race live on the big screen today at 2pm!

And our longest running sporting group on the mountain, Perisai Diri Silat, is on at 6pm at the Hall tonight. Drop in and chat to Simon if you're interested.

A small ginger cat has escaped up near the Canyon Rd-Springbrood Road intersection. It's a timid wee thing with a bright orange collar, tag and bell. It's very very shy and wont come to strangers. If you manage to spot a cat fitting this description please call 0413979271.

Tuesdays are a great day for taking a chance for no more reason than a chancy Tuesday rolls well off the tounge!

Take a chance and talk to a stranger. Take a chance and walk a different route today. Take a chance and go out for lunch. It's a chancy Tuesday here in Paradise. Anything could happen!

See you there!

It's a bit of a Moody Monday...

It's a bit of  moody Monday out there this morning. Mother Nature looks like she wants to end this cloudy patch with a bit of a thunderstorm today. BoM is saying 70% chance of 10 to 15mm, so keep the brolly handy and make sure the sieves on your tanks are nice and clear to catch all that glorious rain!

Rain or shine, its School Library Day today!

Playgroup at the school 9am to 11.30am. All littilies welcome. Parents, please park out on the street when you arrive today.

Theres Yoga at the Hall, 6pm tonight rain or shine. Some sun salutations in preparation for tomorrows sunny day maybe?

Seen any thing over the weekend that council needs to fix or repair? Let them know on division9@goldcoast.qld.gov.au or download the City of Gold Coast app and report all sorts of things through that.

You get to see another side of the mountain on a Moody Mondays. The clouds come down, the mist swirls about and the atmosphere is quite different from our sunny blue skies and green tree outlook.

It's a great day to enjoy the mountains moodiness and to see just mist and cloud from the lookouts.

Be ready for that storm this afternoon. Hopefully it will be a light and sound show with water falling into our tanks. But recharge the torches, get some wood inside and know where the candles are... just in case a tree falls on the powerlines today!

See you there!

Sopping Sundays are great for socialising!

Sopping wet Sundays are for socializing! At the Numinbah markets in your gum boots. At a cafe in your leather shoes. On a walk in your sneakers. Theres no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes!

Great to see water falling from the sky and into our dusty raingauges and tanks. We are looking at a possible storm tomorrow and then it looks like its clearing for Cup day.

The Numinbah Valley markets are on today, 8am to 1pm at the hall in Numinbah! Bring your shopping bags. Wear your gum boots. Grab some breaky and a coffee before you explore the stalls.

1st Sunday of the month has the Catholic Church Mass. It's at 11am, 653 Pine Creek Rd. You'll be most welcomed. Just turn up.

Rain wont stop the Sunday afternoon people from doing their thing today. The Sunday Afternoon People are a random group of locals that meet to make music and have fun, Call Cath on 0423 414 073 to get todays location details.

A fairly calm and uneventful week ahead, except for Australias unofficial afternoon off on Tuesday. So far, we've been advised that the Springbrook Cafe and Bar will have lunch, prizes and live coverage at 2pm for the race.

If there are other functions happening, let us know by using the visitor post function on the page.

Enjoy our shopping wet Sunday. So nice to have one that refills the tanks, refreshes the forest and fills our waterways. Thanks Mother Nature. That was a decent drop of rain.

Embrace your gum boots. Splash in puddles. Rejoice in the soggy ground. It's been a while since we've cause to need our umbrellas!

See you there!

Who woke up to a soggy Saturday?

Who woke up to a soggy Saturday? 😀 Its been good to get a bit of decent rain  for our thirsty rainforest and so the fire fighters can relax a little! How much rain did you get overnight?

BoM is saying rain this morning, clearing this afternoon. Cloudy tomorrow and some decent rain on Sunday and Monday. Looks like some fire, soup and Netflix weather is here!

The BioBlitz is on this weekend down at Austinville all weekend, working with scientists and other wildlife experts. Tickets may still be available online.

The Men's Shed opens at 9am for a bbq breakfast before the 9.30 AGM today. Great day to pop on, get fed and if you're lucky, get on the committee!

The Springbrook Tennis Club often meet for a hit at the courts behind the hall on Saturdays. It's another byo snorkle kind of a tennis day out there today!

Tomorrow is the first Sunday of the month and that means the Numinbah Valley markets are on! 8am to 1pm at the hall in Numinbah. Lotsa cool stalls, great breakfast, jumping castle and lots of people you'll know. It's a really really good morning out!

1st Sunday of the month also has our  Catholic Church Mass, 11am, 653 Pine Creek Rd. Just turn up. You'll be most welcomed.

And of course, our Sunday Afternoon People meet to make music and have fun on Sunday afternoons! Call Cath on 0423 414 073 for location and details!

Lots to do on a soggy Saturday, including going for a walk. If you're taking the baby out in the stroller today, he might need sox on! It's certainly cooler up here than on the coast today!

Nice to see the rain. Fantastic to hear it sloshing into the tanks and good to see our Forests getting a good drink today. It's been a while between drinks for our mountain.

Enjoy the coolness. Revel in the rain. Embrace the puddles and clouds. Paradise comes in many guises!

See you there!

Looking forward to a frightless Friday!

Looking forward to a frightless Friday after the Halloween shenanigans last night! No spooky creatures, no terrifying children, no more lollies to give away. That's how we like a frightless Friday. (But didnt it look like they were having fun!)

BoM is telling us highish chances of small amounts of rain over the next few days with real rain next Tuesday. Let's see what we get!

The School Gardening Project is on this morning, 8am to 8.45am. Students and parents are very welcome.

School Banking today too!

Our amazing AA group is meeting at the hall at 4.30pm this afternoon. It used to be a very small group but has grown a lot recently as they have so much success. If you have concerns around how alcohol is affecting your life, drop in and say hi. They are a very friendly bunch.

If you feel like a bit more Yoga today, Danielle has a class at Solitude Retreat, 3376 Nerang-Murwillumbah Rd Numinbah Valley just past the Parks entrance to Natural Bridge, 9.30am

Dont forget that BioBlitz is down at Austinville all weekend. Work with scientists and other wildlife experts. Tickets available online.

The Men's Shed AGM is being held tomorrow, 9am for 9.30 start.

Let's have a frightless Friday. No surprises. No scary things. Just good ol' Springbrook chugging along seamlessly today. Check out a cafe for coffee. Do a bit of early Christmas shopping at the craft, fudge and gem shops and look both ways before you cross the road.

No point in scaring yourself silly on a frightless Friday is there???

See you there!

Its Thursday, the thirty first!

Its Thursday, the thirty first and that means Halloween! A fang-tastic day is ahead in our boo-tiful home here in the haunted woods of the Hinterland. (I hope you are using a scary voice when you're reading this! )

Watch out for trick or treaters this evening AND of course our very own Yeti. A great day for him to get out and about. After all, who would know if he was the real one or if it was just Chris walking about??

BoM still telling us clouds and no rain for a few days more up here. Looks like Nerang might get a bit of rain sooner than we will...

On to a thrilling Thursday...

Get your School Tuck Shop orders to Anastasia today for Friday lunch delivery. Only $5

Helen is back and refreshed and so student yoga is on at the school this morning 8.15am to 8.45am. Dont be late!!
