The Springbrook Community Notices

The Emporium is looking pretty amazing at the moment. With the amount of people doing the right thing it's looking good and it's easy to find things and to drop things off! Thank you Mandy, it look amazing!  Hold fire on your clothes donations. We should be getting a clothing bin in a couple of weeks which might just solve the problem!

School holidays have arrived in Queensland and the accommodation is full to overflowing! Watch out on the roads and prepare for lots of people every where. Take a rubbish bag when you go walking. You'll probably fill it!

Great to catch up with families at the Skate Park and playground on nice sunny days. Drop in with the kids and see who is there from time to time!

Remember to throw rubbish into the OPEN bin at the tip. The idea is  to fill one bin at a time rather than council coming up for 2 half empty bins each time.

We have confirmed a council worker to talk about Vegetation and how its cut back as well ad someone to talk about the new foot path and Bridge at our next SMCA meeting on July 20th, 7.25pm at the hall.

If you live on roads where tourist parking at Purling Brook is a problem, make a sign to direct them to the acres of parking at the Settlement and stick on your fence or make use of your wheelie bin. Even if it only works on a few cars every weekend, it's worth it!

There seems to be trouble with the footpath. It looks like there's not enough funding to give us a foot path as well as a bridge, so we will have two foot paths that lead to a vehicular causeway. That leaving a lot of us scratching our heads asking, really? 🤔 We need to have a chat with TMR and Council to see what can be done about this!

The Springbrook Community Food Growers are meeting on July 2nd at Gina's place from 2pm to 4pm. Check the Springbrook Community Food Hardeners fb page for details!

Stay safe. Stay on your side of the road.

The Springbrook Community Notices

This month's SMCA meeting will have members of the Fire Police and Ambulance here to talk to us about what happens during times of crises. Great meeting for new residents to attend to find out how all this stuff works, what happens when you break a leg, you chimney catches on fire or you need the Police. We will also talk about how we cope when we lose both roads and the power. (Remember, the phone towers go out too eventually) Lots of great info. Don't miss it! Wrap up warm. The hall is cold. See you there!

Weedbusters next Sunday, 9am to 11am at the Settlement. Their big trailer reveal will happen and some great weed ID, info and pulling will take place as well. Bring the kids and morning tea. Fun morning!!

We are so lucky to have Lin the Librarian to run our wee community library for us. Drop in on Wednesday afternoon and say hi, grab a book and enjoy a chat. We also have Book club on this week. Wrap up warm, byo cuppa and enjoy other book minded people talking about books!

The Ladies Lunch is on Friday, 12pm at the Springbrook Cafe and Bar on Forestry Road. Great chance for all types of ladies to enjoy each other's company, a nice meal and a glass of wine. Just turn up, you'll be most welcome!

Cafe Winter hours:

Dancing Waters: Open Wed to Mon. Closed Tuesday.

Springbrook Cafe and Bar: Open 7 days, plus dinner on Friday and Saturday nights.

The Fudge Shop.

Open Wed to Sun. Closed Mon and Tues.

Great time to book a time at the Observatory now the rain has cleared! Call Andre on 0400 789 451at 6pm to get a spot in the nights viewing group. So cool and you'll need to wrap up warm!

Watch out for icy patches on the road now the mornings are under zero. Those shadowy corners on the western side could be iced over and slippery as!

Easy to report idiots on the roads with a bit of dash cam footage and a rego these days. Just upload it to the Police's webpage!

Report a pothole on Springbrook week this week! Send photos to division9@goldcoast.qld.gov.au for Council roads & southcoast@tmr.qld.gov.au for TMR rds

The Springbrook Community Notices

The SMCA meeting has been changed to next week so we don't compete with the State of Origin game (Their marketing team is better than ours!) All going to plan, we will have TMR there to show us photos and drone footage and explain what is happening on the 15th!

No Ladies Lunch this week either. Next Friday 17th, 12pm at the Springbrook Cafe and Bar.

Just for the new people, the Springbrook Cafe and Bar is in Forestry Rd and is often called "The Pub" or "The Shop" by locals. All three places sre the same!

Lots of chairs at the Emporium at the moment. Office chairs and dining chairs. Grab them before anyone else does!

Now the sun is out, the tourists are back. Pop out you verge markers and signs that redirect them to the Settlement if you live near Purling Brook. They are churning up our grassy areas and bogging themselves everywhere!

There is no ATM on the mountain, but the Springbrook Cafe and Bar will let people get upto $100 out on their EFTPOS machine. Thanks guys, that helps a lot!

The start of Winter is a bit slow here on the Mountain as we adjust to the cold. If you want to see a group start up, start one! There's times available at the hall, the cafes love to host groups and meetings or you can hold them at home. If you have a hobby or interest that you'd like to turn into a regular group, let us know and we will tell everyone!

Bar Fridge size FREEZER for sale. Works well. Surplus to requirements. $50 Call 0413 979 271 if you're interested.

Lots of goodies at the Emporium as people move in and out of houses. Get in quick to grab a treasure!

Have you checked out weather underground? It's full of private weather stations that are linked to the net and we have a few here in Springbrook. BoMs readings don't always feel right so it's good to have a local comparison!

Springbrook Voices deliveries have started! Make sure you read it cover to cover and gather all that local knowledge and find out what's happening!

Whole Cloves boiled in water and left to cool makes a great mould killer for those still battling our interior fungus infestation!

Stay safe. Get involved.
