Springbrook Community Notices
The Springbrook Chamber of Commerce have an AGM meeting on Tuesday 11th August, 7.30pm at the hall. All local business owners welcome. For more info contact them on info@explorespringbrook.com.au
*Have you seen the new environmental initiative that's being started by members of our mountain community? Sarah and Keiran have created Climb a Tree Foundation to help spread all sorts of environmental and sustainable ideas and projects around. You can join as foundation members or support the go fund me page to make and install wildlife nesting boxes in fire affected areas. Have a look on the My Springbrook webpage under Climb a Tree Foundation for more details. www.lovespringbrook.blogspot.com
The Springbrook Visitor Infomation Center is reopening again this weekend. Peter will he there on Sunday to greet and help out our visitors from 11amish to 2pmish, mountain time. The Centre is always looking for volunteers. Call Annette on 0427 415 299 to volunteer. Its heaps of fun!
Springbrook P&C have started all their extra curricular activities again.
*Wednesday, gardening day 8.30am
*Thursday, Yoga 8.15pm
*Friday, Food scrap Friday Community Composting 8.30am.
Tuck shop is operating at the school again this term. Talk to the team at Dancing Waters Cafe about getting lunch delivered on a Friday for $5 or $30 for the term.
*The Springbrook Mens Shed has reopened with standard Covidsafe rules. They operate Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 9amish to 1pmish with morning tea 10.30ish. They operate on mountain time! If you're a bloke on the mountain and you havent dropped in to see the biggest shed in this small village, then make a date to do that this week and see what all the fuss is about. You'll be most welcome!
*Springbrook Research Observatory is opening again in the weekends, weather permitting, for us all to gaze in wonder at the stars in our gloriously dark sky. Call Andre on 0400 789 551 and check if he is operating that night and book in quickly if he is. It's a fantastic opportunity to see the night sky through an astronomers eyes!
*The Springbrook Community Hall is open for bookings again. The restrictions only allow 20 people maximum at a time but that's an ideal for small groups and workshops. Give Kara a call on 0413979271 if you want to make a booking. Only $13 per hour for locals!
*Have you got one of Ros Bates' many post cards asking our opinion on the Cableway, raising the Austinville causeway and about visitor signage at Springbrook yet? If so, fill it out and return it this week. If not, feel free to text 0499855169 or email mudgeeraba@parliament.qld.gov.au and (politely) express your feelings on any or all of these issues. Be an active voice in the community and have your view heard.
*The afternoon Amblers are trying out Velvet Downs Road for their walks at the moment. They meet at the Telstra Exchange on the corner of Springbrook and Velvet Downs road about 3.30pm to walk as far as they can (at their own pace) for half an hour before returning. Bring a brolly. It rains at 4pm on Thursdays. Just ask them!
*Please, please please, slow down in front of the school. Its starting to get quite dangerous outside the school during drop off and pick up times, and is concerning all those there at the time. It's most likely to be locals at that time of the day too. Please, slow down. Its a hard enough road to cross with out a bag, or am and a 5 year old in tow...
*Food Scrap Friday is a community composting initiative run by the school and its P&C. Just bring your bucket of vege food scraps to the gate between 8am and 8.30am and the gardening project kids will weigh it, empty it into their compost heap and rinse the bucket before returning it to you at the gate. A great way to be involved even if you dont have kids at the school.
Stay safe. Get involved. See you there
💚Springbrook
