Springbrook Community Notices

Our next Community cuppa is on TUESDAY,  March 25th, 10.30am at the Sitting Room. These are great events that ebb and flow depending on who turns up, when. Come and catch up with people, meet new people and enjoy a coffee while checking out what's been done at the old Rosellas. Pop it in your diary now.  Dont miss it!

SWAG has a great talk on Cane Toads and how to get rid of the coming up on Saturday Feb 29th, 2pm at the Springbrook community hall. Learn what's involved in catching the toads and their tadpoles and getting involved with a fantastic citizen science project. Traps will be available for purchase on the day for $30 cash. Free afternoon tea and some great books for sale.

Numinbah Valleys next Sew-in is on Saturday Feb 29th down at their hall. Come and make stuffed animal toys that will be sold to raise funds for animals affected by the bush fires. Kids not only welcome, but put to work! All skill levels required. Stay for the day or stay for an hour. Lots to do. See the NV hall facebook page for more detail.

Has the parking been a bit out of control in your area over the weekend? Share the entertainment with our local counciller by sending a few photos of the parking and how it affects residents, tourists and bussiness alike. Send Glen a few photos on division9@goldcoast.qld.gov.au so he can see what's happening up here...

The Springbrook Mens Shed is having another Bunnings Sausage Sizzle on Tuesday March 10th and also another on Saturday, March 28th at Nerang. If you are heading down the hill on these days, pop in and say hi! They love to see Springbrook faces in the hordes as they line up for the onion first, sausage n bread!

Numinbah Valley markets are on Sunday, March 1st,  8am to 1pm. Great bbq breaky burgers, lots of interesting stalls. Jumping castle, face painting. Stalls only $10. Contact them through their facebook page.

If you see any trees down across the roads, please call the TMR emergency line 131940 for Springbrook Road and the City of Gold Coast emergency line 1800637000 for the smaller Roads. They will send someone up fairly quickly to deal with it. Technically,  our local guys cant deal with trees on the road until directed to by decorative epaulette wearing persons!

Check out the Notice board at the Springbrook Emporium (the tip) for local services and tradies. A great place to find out what's on, what's happening and who's selling what. Put your own notice up. It's a fantastic community resource!

Dont forget its Speed trap Sunday out there! Did you know that Queensland does double demerit point all year and not just in the holidays? If you commit the same offence with a year of the previous one, you get hit with a double whammy of points and fines. Our back roads are notorious for coppers with speed cameras, both mobile and stationary so stay under the 80km, even on those lovely long straights when you can finally get past the tourist doing 40km... that's where the coppers and their cameras like to hang out!!

*Council is meant to he doing some "works" on Canyon Parade, weather permitting, starting Monday March 17th.

Keep an eye out for kids on bikes and mums with prams this week before and after school as we get back into the school year. Its particularly tough as we dont have footpaths on many of our streets and the ones we do have a pretty rough. Also watch for that 40km zone in front of the school. You dont want to get booked there by a speed camera!

See you there!
💚Springbrook
