Are we in for a wet Wednesday?

Are we in for a wet Wednesday? The Bureau is saying a 70% chance of 4mm around lunchtime today with showers for the rest of the week...

Craft today at the hall. Starting at 10am the crafty ladies meet to do their crafty things and chat. If you're thinking of coming along today, bring $3 to cover the hall hire and maybe a plate of morning tea to share.  A lovely morning to spend doing your favorite craft and chatting with our marvelous mountain ladies!

The Springbrook Community Library will be open this afternoon from 3pm to 4pm so you can look at kids books, cook books, craft books and novels. Novels, novels, and more novels are on the shelves of our wee library so if you're looking for something to read on the predicted rainy days ahead, this is your chance to grab them!

Numinbah Valley markets are on this Sunday at their hall 8am to 1pm. New markets that are nice and close to us making it a do-able trip rather than a day trip! Worth the visit for breakfast and a wander, they have all sorts of things on offer from jumping castles to chooks, baskets to baby clothes, artworks to bric a brac. Turn up and be surprised!

After you've done the Numinbah Valley markets,  pop down to Country Paradise and check out the Botanical Bazzar! Open 9am to 4pm it's a Gardeners dream festival. All sorts of plants, talks and demonstrations,  it looks like a great day for plant lovers. $15 for adults. Lots of info on line.

Have a wonderful, potentially wet Wednesday. Enjoy the change in temperature,  watch out for echidnas crossing the roads and listen to the birds sometime today!

See you there!

A change in the weather for Tuesday?

A change in the weather for Tuesday?

Springbrookians are weather watchers. The weather affects our roads & our commute, our drinking water, our power supply, our gardens, our fire wood supply, our mood. Have you noticed that weather watching is a big part of living in Springbrook?
Tuesdays are not only a great day to look at the sky but to get on down to Helen's Yoga class at 9am. Her studio is at 1947 Springbrook Rd and the classes are small and intimate.

The Mens Shed is open from 10am for all things blokey. The garden plumbing is almost finished so a cup of tea and biscuits will be on offer to celebrate this momentous moment!

The Springbrook school P&C have their monthly meeting this afternoon at 3.15pm at the school. All parents and interested people invited to attend. Blue cards required for non parents.

Perasai Diri Silat is on at the hall at 6pm rhis evening. Great way to get fit, keep warm and learn something new. Pop in and talk to Simon tonight if you're curious.

Has your Music in the Round leaflet appeared in your letterbox yet? Check out the notice boards if it hasnt to get all the details for Saturdays concert.

Is our collection of crashed abandoned cars still on display? Give your local councillor Glen Tozer's office a call on 5581 1883 and ask them when they will be removed. Reporting it to the Dept of Main Roads might help too. You can do that on their webpage under compliments or complaints!

Enjoy the change of Tuesday. Watch the weather, attend a community activity and dont forget to call the council!

See you there!

A meditative Monday...

Today feels like a meditative Monday. A day for thinking and reflecting! BOM says we've got a few clouds heading our way by the end of the week so make the most of this meditative Monday and check out the blue skies and rain forests today!

The Mens Shed has a Bunnings Sausage Sizzle at Nerang Bunnings today. If you're heading down the hill and are in need of sustenance, pop in and grab a bbqed sausage on bread with onions and your choice of sauce and help raise funds for all those cups of tea the men drink at the shed!

Mondays are library day at our local school! Dont forget your library books today!

Playgroup is on at the school today. Bring your littlie and come down at 9.30am for an hour and a half of fun and games!

Yoga is on tonight, 6pm at the hall. Wrap up warm but remember that Helen will have you warmed up and stretching in no time!

If you've never written to Council before about any of the three abandoned cars that now seem to be permanently sited up here, today could be the day that you try it. It's quite easy. If you have a smart phone, download the City of Gold Coast app (it's the red one) and fill in the blanks and Ta Da! It's done. Otherwise write to mail@goldcoast.gov.qld.au or just phone the main number at council.

Maybe we should just paint them with a mural, yarn bomb them or deck them out with native plants and microbat boxes and incorporate them into the environment. They seem to be permanent fixtures these days...

P&C meeting tomorrow at the school, 3.15pm.

Check your letterbox and local notice boards for Music in the Round information. Great little community night.

Enjoy your meditative Monday, the blue skies and the great relationships you have on the mountain!

See you there!

What a splendid Sunday!

What a splendid Sunday to remember the first moon landing and humans walking on the moon 50 years ago today! Get your binoculars out tonight and see if you can see the flag they left there in 1969!

We have our Sunday Afternoon People doing their sound checks and final rehearsals in the hall this afternoon at 3pm. A really cool group of musicians who welcome all musicians to their group to jam and create music for events on the mountain. If youve always been curious about them, pop down to the hall this afternoon and have a chat with them!

Have you seen that the white car at the split is still there? Saw a burnt out car on the Nerang-Murwillumbah Road yesterday and theres one over the side up near Hardies. If these cars bother you, take a photo and send it to council. Use the City of Gold Coast app or just email them on mail@goldcoast.gov.qld.au
Sooner or later someone will come and get them...

Have a splendid Sunday, look up at the sky, enjoy our veiws and wonder at the moon tonight!

A change in the weather for Tuesday?

Will there a change in the weather for Tuesday? Apparently, the forecast is for no rain today so yhat could mean anything! Lets see what we get! 🤔

Yoga, 9am this morning at Helens  studio, 1947 Springbrook Rd. Nice small intimate classes with a lovely veiw into the bush. Give it a go some time!

The Mens Shed is open from 10am today to work inside the shed and on their gardens and plant water lillies, if this rain keeps up. I guess if the rain keeps going like this, we can flip the shed and use it for an ark! It'll fit all 600 of us but be a little cosy!

Lynne's farewell mursl painting is on at 10am at the Sporks water tanks. Pop down with a chair and a plate to share for morning tea and say farewell to a mountain icon! Lynne's memory will live on in her murals well after she moves down the hill.

Simon is still running his Perasai Diri Silat classes in the holidays, 6pm at the hall. Bring the kids along and have a go!

The Community Library has some school holiday activities tomorrow, 1.30pm to 3pm. Pop in and do some figurine painting, some crafts and read a book. Great activity for tomorrow,  especially if it rains...

Cuban Dance on Saturday night. Its a dance lesson for the first half and a lot of fun for the second half. The music is great and you start smiling as soon as you walk in the door.  Give it a go. Check the Rythumm facebook page for more details.

Get outside between rainfalls today and enjoy a bit of warm sunshine! It can be depressing sitting inside for long periods so since we have a reprive, get as far as the letterbox today at least and even down the street or to a lookout!

Its a moody Monday out there still!

Monday! And the weather looks a little moody out there still for another week or so.
Those wet roads are still dangerous. Did you see the car crashed at the split yesterday? Thanks to all our mountain emergency volunteers who attended. We are grateful you are here for us. Looks like another accident where they were too fast for the corner... Please slow down...

As its the school holidays no need to worry about school library or play group today but Yoga at the hall is on at 6pm tonight as usual. Great for the first time Yogi and enough to challege the regulars. Give it a try tonight.

Don't forget our Community Libraries school holiday activity at the hall on Wednesday 1.30pm to 3pm. It was really good last week with quite a few kids attending. Make sure you come and support a local volunteer activity on the mountain if you can!

Sunday Afternoon People had a great rehursal yesterday so the Music in the Round on the 27th is shaping up to be a great night.

Dont be too moody, get out snd enjoy our atmospheric mountain and take some photos to appear on this page!

See you there!

Could be a showery Saturday...!

Could be another Showery Saturday here in Paradise as Mother Nature continues to show us her repertoire of rain types!

However, there's no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing, so rug up, get out the gumboots, find the umbrella and get out amoungst it!

Tennis anyone? Should you be able to snorkle and play tennis or own a wet suit, then the courts are likely to be yours alone today. Not sure many people will be playing this morning, but, this is Springbrook and you never know!

The Shed built by Men for Men and supplied regularly with biscuits by Pauline, is open from 10am today to eat biscuits, drink cuppas and put the world to rights as they gaze out at the rain on their gardens. Its not a bad way to spend the morning really! Pop in and join them if you can!

Catholic Church Mass at 11am tomorrow. Check the notice boards around the village for details.

Can anyone confirm the Anglican Church on the first Sunday of the month tomorrow please? Thanks.

Get those fires cranking, grab a blanket and a cuppa and enjoy a wet wintery day on the couch. Or maybe grab those gumboots and a jacket and check out our waterways and falls after all the rain. Either way, embrace the beauty of our mountain and enjoy a showery Saturday here in Paradise!

See you there!

It's got to be a wonderful Wednesday!

It's got to be a wonderful Wednesday when you've seen the Springbrook Unicorn just casually munching grass on the side of the road complete with sparkling rainbow mane and tail! Keep an eye out for Lilly the Springbrook Unicorn in the Forestry Rd area!
Craft today with the crafty ladies (and a few gents) 10am at the Springbrook Hall today. Just $3 to cover the cuppa and the hall hire. A great way to spend the morning,  chatting, crafting and cuppering! Come along!
The Springbrook Community Library is running some school holiday activites today, 1.30 to 3pm at the hall. Completely free! Bring the kids after lunch and do some plaster figurine painting, enjoy a story and play some games. Right next to the skate park and playground. Great idea if the 30% chance of rain happens this afternoon.

Long time Springbrook resident and SMCA member, Lynne Head-Weir, will soon be leaving the Mountain for a new life in the Lowlands.

Lynne was a key driver of various murals at Springbrook, including at the Hall and the various water-tanks. She would like to spend time this coming Thursday, tomorrow - weather permitting - on doing some maintenance and enhancement to the mural on the Rural Fire Brigade watertank situated at Sporks.

If you would like to join Lynne and add your own special touch to this artwork, can you please contact Lynne via email on lynne.head.weir@gmail.com. -  the plan is to also bring along some nibbles to create a party atmosphere.

Have a wonderful magical day and be prepared for the extraordinary while getting around Springbrook today!

A Monday to be motivated!

A Monday to be motivated! A great day to start doing the things you have been meaning to do! Forecast is still for intermittent showers making for some great gardening weather!

With the school holidays on here in Gods own country, lots of our reminders arent needed today, so take advantage of our book nook in Kuralboo st and grab a book and relax with it in front of the fire sometime today.

Maybe a great day for a stroll around the Parks picnic areas? Check out the renovations to Goomoolarah and Gwongarella if you have time.

Yoga is on this evening at the hall. Its chilly in there but rug up well and Helen will soon have you warm and toasty with some challenging yoga moves. 6pm, byo mat etc. All levels welcome!

Thinking about the weekend all ready? Think Numinbah Valley markets! Stalls are just $10, there's lots of room. Get together with a friend and have a clean out of all your treasures and make a few $$$. Or just pop down for breakfast and browse the stalls. You might come home with an African basket, a chicken, some honey and a cute dress for the baby in the family. Bouncy castle for the kids too!

Have a motivating Monday and have fun!

See you there!
