Understanding Suicide workshop. Springbrook community hall, Saturday October 10th 7pm to 9pm. Free. Tickets via Eventbrite. Suicide claimed 3,046 Australians in 2018 at an average rate of 8.3 persons a day. It's the leading cause of death for the 15 - 44 yo age range and ranked as the 14th leading cause of death overall. Yet, despite Govt initiatives, it still remains one of the least talked about areas of mental health. This information packed workshop is designed to help individuals understand suicide, it's causes, triggers, and how to help themselves or others who may be affected by it. Created by a former Lifeline crisis counselor and based on current research and on-the-job experience, this 2 hour session delivers practical information and tools to help attendees learn more about suicide and how to deal with it.

One day retreats, right here at Springbrook! Calm your mind Join us for a day focussed just on YOU...you'll leave the mountain feeling like you've had an emotional and mental over-haul.  Just one day of stepping away from our phones, responsibilities and chores and being immersed in nature, meditation, breath work and gentle movement can make a big change in our lives.  Details and pricing https://www.karaswift.com/one-day-silent-retreats

Springbrook School is now collecting plastic bottle tops and toothbrushes to be recycled into new and exciting things. Collected them up (give them a bit of a rinse) and drop them off at the school gate on Friday mornings between 8.30am and 9am. It would be great if the cafes could set aside a bucket to collect them as well and help divert landfill back into a useful life!

Springbrook Research Observatory is opening again in the weekends, weather permitting, for us all to gaze in wonder at the stars in our gloriously dark sky. Call Andre on 0400 789 551 and check if he is operating that night and book in quickly if he is. It's a fantastic opportunity to see the night sky through an astronomers eyes!
