WaterGum are holding their BioBlitz event on December 4,5 and 6th at Koonjewarre. We would also love to invite local stall holders, craft people, produce sellers etc to come along to the event and have a stall. There's no charge or anything we would just need them to email us at events@watergum.org and we can add their stall to the program. Thanks, Emily Check out the BioBlitz website for more info. https://watergum.org/gold-coast-bioblitz/?fbclid=IwAR0xmmuy8lqg1OInaDWsN85zE0yct8nMIonBPcBxg2DGR3xufxk6iSmUxlM
The Rural Fire Brigade Levy that council wont be collecting next year has caused a lot of conversation. If keeping the rural fire service running like it has done up here for years is something you'd like to see continue, educate yourself about the issues by heading over to the Gold Coast combined fire brigade group and Glenn Tozer, division 9 councillors facebook pages for more info.
More crashes on our roads this weekend. Please, please slow down. Flesh and asphalt arent the best combination...
Scott Bulcholz, our Federal member for Parliament is looking for mobile phone black spots and places with really bad internet. If you know of any, please email him on scott.buchholz.mp@aph.gov.au so he can get a broader picture of what working and what's not.
Nerang-Murwillumbah road upgrade ideas, suggestions and recommendations can be sent to your state representative, Ros Bates on mudgeeraba@parliament.qld.gov.au or direct to TMR via their web page. Send maps with the dangerous corners clearly marked, areas for overtaking bays and other road issues to them sooner rather than later so they can be considered before the final plan is unveiled.
Springbrook School is now collecting plastic bottle tops and toothbrushes to be recycled into new and exciting things. Collected them up (give them a bit of a rinse) and drop them off at the school gate on Friday mornings between 8.30am and 9am. It would be great if the cafes could set aside a bucket to collect them as well and help divert landfill back into a useful life!
Dont forget to make Springbrook Voices your first stop when you need a tradie on the mountain. Theres lots of great people who are very good at what they do, right here on our doorstep. Call the first and shop local when you can!
Keep an eye out for kids on bikes and mums with prams before and after school. Its particularly tough as we dont have footpaths on many of our streets and the ones we do have a pretty rough. Also watch for that 40km zone in front of the school. You dont want to get booked there by a speed camera!
Tuck shop at the school operates on a term or weekly basis. Pop into Dancing Waters Cafe and pay for a term of Friday lunches and get a discount or just order and pay weekly when you need it. $5 per lunch, discount on the full term. GF, DF nut free etc all available.
Parents and visitors, please dont park inside the school during drop off and pick up times. It creates an extra hazard for the children to negotiate. Please park next to the school or across the road.
Theres lots of road side stalls popping up over the place at the moment. A lovely way to spend the weekend mornings is to drive around with some cash visiting the stall to see what local goodies are on offer. From Echo Valley at the beginning of Lyrebird Ridge Road to Greenwood Farm right up at Goomalarah, there is often six other stalls open as well. See if you can find them all and enjoy our local goodies.
Have something you want to tell Springbrook? Email us on springbrookhall@gmail.com and we will advertise it for you!
Stay safe. Make a mask. Check on a friend! 💚Springbrook
